370 whp 15 psi on 20g with 550 cc injector?

Ok so I am looking to buy a 2g gsx, I have found one in my area, the guy says it is throwin down 370 whp, with a 20g and 550 cc injectors tuned with a safc, does this sound right or are these injectors to small to put that down with out running lean? I don't know much about tuning, but I do know I don't want to buy a car that has not been upgraded properly,

Ask the seller if he meant HP and not AWHP. There is so much proof of a bunch of people who have no clue how a foced induction system works or fuel systems. For one, a 16G is rated for 380 HP, this is just a generalization derived from some math using static values for some things I doubt any of you understand fully. If an AWD car has a 15 to 18% drivetrain loss, that is 311 to 323 WHP, based off pump gas at around 23 PSI. That would put 550cc injectors around 85% IDC. So to say 550s can only handle 300 WHP is false and flawed. Is this possible, by math yes, but it will recquire a whole lot of supporting mods, a good tune, and probably race gas over pump.

The rest of you need to leave this post for someone with facts.

OP- No a 20g will not flow enough at 15psi to make 300hp, let alone 370hp. On top of that 550s will not give enough fuel to support 370hp.

He's full of shit. That car is lucky to be making 225whp.

With an AFC he has no way of tuning timing, so he's claiming to make almost 400hp at nearly a stock boost level with injectors that are one size larger than stock using the stock timing curve. Complete bullshit.

I like harassing these guys that claim big power with no proof. I'd tell him I'll give him twice his asking price if he can provide dyno sheets and a video of the car making said power with said setup.

If he also has an upgraded fuel pump, 550s at 15psi on a 20g shouldn't be a problem, a/f-wise. Road Race Engineering recommends 550s and an upgraded fuel pump for up to 18psi on upgraded turbos on pump gas.

15psi on a 20g should be like 260whp-280whp. He would need pretty much all the supporting upgrades to reach 300whp, which would put him around 370hp at the crank, but even then with just an safc it would be a stretch. The bottom line is he's trying to sell the car, so he says what he thinks the buyer wants to hear.

Cosmetic issues shouldn't really matter in this subject, specially when the guy is calling everyone noobs even though they're not giving any opinion to try to validate the owner's claims.

Definitely not on pump gas. If he has a meth injection kit on it then yes.

last I remember, 550cc was good for about 300 at best.

with the presumption that 550cc injectors top out at 300 horsepower, I still doubt that methanol would give a 70 wheel horsepower boost... 20-30whp is more realistic for a tuned setup (which is awesome for a $150-$400 upgrade). remember that even progressive controllers still inject linearly - you can't fine tune the additional fuel for RPMs/boost like you can fuel injectors...

e85 would be worse than gasoline regarding max power potential with 550cc injectors...

If he's anything like my dad and other "old schoolers" I know, they do a lot of butt dynoing. So he probably got 370hp by his estimation of his butt. My dad thinks with an exhaust on his 89 5.0 he's pushing 300whp.

Now he is saying he was running 370 hp and has turned down the boost and gone back to his 550s, I'm calling bs on him though because he is still running a stock fuel pump and regulator, so I will not be buying this car and I'm just going to buy one as close to stock as I can find so I can modify it myself and enjoy the learning curve

ya I know, the only reason I was looking at a modified one was because I am set on a 5 speed gsx and they are hard to come by, unless I want to go auto there are a few of those for sale around here but not 5 speed s
