So I just installed a 3076r on my brothers '92 awd.

Pulled out of the garage for the first drive with it and it pops a nice cloud of bluish smoke between shifts after WOT, which it never did before.

Compression is 165 across on a eagle/weisco motor.

Is this turbo going out already?

Fed from OFH with a garrett ball bearing restrictor, -10AN drain.

Did you check the pressure from the ofh to the turbo? Obviously not, you need to make sure you are feeding it enough pressure because too little is also bad.

Move that oil feed to the head using the same restrictor and make sure the drain has no kinks. Those turbos require such little oil to operate it's mind-blowing.

So you think it's getting too much oil pressure?

The only reason I didn't feed it from the head is because the head feed threads are stripped on this car. :notgood:

This turbo is used btw, not brand new.

Okay, so I finally got a bigger straighter drain, and it still does it. Maybe slightly less, I couldn't tell though.

Is there anything I can do to lower the amount of oil getting to the turbo without going to a head oil feed? Reason being I really don't want to do a helicoil and damage anything and I don't want to take the head off because it is o-ringed and seals great as-is.

Can I add like an additional restrictor at the beginning of the line?

CAPPED OFF? OMG

The PCV valve is closed when the engine's on boost...opens on vacuum.

Your crankcase is breathing through the turbo under boost. Hopefully you didn't cause irreversible damage with that little stunt. ;)
