opinions on the back seating of our cars please? id like to see others post pictures of their backseats removed, roll caged, custom stereo, chassis bracing, whatever you have done thats clever to our basically useless rear seating area.

on my car i chose to delete the seat right behind the driver seat for a couple of reasons. first, ITS TO ANNOYING to move my chair forward to let some one sit behind me. so now having a passenger behind me isnt even a option. and second, it seemed like a great place to install my water/meth pump for "short route" purpose's

the natural shape of the back seat made this very easy to do. the back rest's are individual anyhow and the bench portion was easy to sacrafice. but by just cutting the back seat in half would show bare metal as the automotive carpet stops short right under the bench seat.

i felted the entire car except for the trunk. the trunk is just bare metal. the felt was purchased from a local jet boat building shop. this stuff is UV resistant, easy to clean, looks nice, and weighs NOTHING. i went the extra mile and removed all the tar mats under the carpet (sound deadening)

with the car felted it was easy to make the choice to sacrafice a bench seat to try this out. so far i love this set-up. my water meth kit is super easy to refill and the pump is mounted right behind me making it remove about 7' of line from where it was originally mounted in the trunk. the nitrous bottle isnt mounted yet but you get the point. the amp lookin guy thats directly there and ready to go is a power inverter. and i have a nice peice of LED strip lighting in there for additionall "dome" lighting. im working on mounting the light differntly tho.

ya man it works great for the "sorry i cant squeez ya in" effect on that one obnoxtious friend that we all have.... LOL if the rear seat was removed all the way then it would suckcause you cant take your buddy and your girlfriend or whatever. this way when im cruisin with a friend i still have the option to pick up a babe :) and the fact that i can mount my goodies right there at a easy reach spot make good for my laptop, the power inverter plug in, the meth pump bein short route, and the nitrous bottle mounted to where i can crack open the bottle pressure at any spur of the moment situation

the seat belt system on that side can be easily removed. the seat back comes out like this mod was meant to be. and as far as the bench portion goes, i went out of my way and found a extra one that i could cut. this way i still have a full back seat to put back in there if i ever returned the car to stock and sell it. removing the factory carpet and sound deadening was also a great wheight saver. but instead of having just bare metal thats super cold and also noisy i thoughgt it would be pretty cool to use jet boat felt. the front of the car looks awsome. the rear of it was exactly what i needed to cut my seat in half and not have the back end of the car look like crap. but having this three seater configuration is proving to be well worth the effort. i love it. it works great

That looks awesome!! I have always hated having a back seat, they are small and pointless unless you want someone rubbing their dirty shoes all over the back of your nice leathers.

please post your pictures of your rear seating area being fully gutted, then sheet metaled, then totally lined in cushions. i want to see this. WE ALL WANT TO SEE THIS. im happy i got some complements and thumbs up but im a bit disappointed because i asked for others to please post pictures of there modified rear half of the seating portion. i want to see how other people have mounted there goodies, done roll cages, custom stereo, complex chassis stiffining mods, what ever. i would like to see others post pis in this thread of their rear seating compartments.

bud92gsx, please post pictures of a 1G thats rear gutted and lined in "cushions" please we all want to see. better yet post a picture OF YOUR BACK SEAT.....

+1 for idaho! lewiston repersent. LOL. cool to see others from idaho. i used to live in postfalls. thats cool man

Nice!! I didnt even notice you were so close. Most of the guys on here are west coast or down south.

When I saw the thread title I crossed my fingers and prayed that somebody had the balls to make their DSM a 3 seater Mclaren F1 style. Yaaa, i'm really tired haha.

Looks good though. Nice to see something that's clean and functional. I get so tired of seeing DSM's that are ugly as hell and look hacked up but get mad props because it makes it 1/2 pound lighter or 1/2 mph faster. I wish more dsm'ers took pride in the way their car looked instead of just making it fast.

thats kinda what i was goin for. the dsm diet, but still nice. its clean and functional and it still puts the car on the diet. the felt works decent for sound surpression, as i did drive the car for awhile with just bare metal/paint for a interior. gutted sucked in my opinion. it was loud and also cold. the felt looks good for a carpet replacement. and having that one back seat still comes in handy. theres been times when ive stuck the car seat back there. take my daughter on a lil mini boost pull. gotta get 'em started early ya know!

Your in alaska and drive your car..

Have you been told you live in alaska.

OMG you don't know you live in alaska do you.ROFL:tease:

thanks man.

and i dont get what the big deal is about this guy living in alaska? how about props that he's smart enough to live up there and drive a four wheel drive turbo

OP that came out great!

Here is what I did with my back seat. When I was reupholstering the seats it was way cheaper to just do the front 2, plus I am 6'1'' so there isn't alot of room back there when I am driving. so I origionally just made a platform and covered it with carpet.

Just recently I decided to relocate my battery to the trunk to make room for water/meth injection. At the same time I decided it was time to either 86 the subwoofer or keep it so this is what I came up with.
