ok i have a apexi dp witha a high flow cat welded into it. I also have a 16g ported/polished and wastegate is ported and the passage way between the wastegate and exhaust turbine is cut out a little bit . i want to get rid of my cat and get a REAL 3 inch Dp but i was wondering if the DP will make the 16g boost creep even with the porting mods i have done thanks for any info

I had to take out my cat, b/c it was welded to the stock dp and my 3" catback. So while I am waiting on my parts to put it all together I have been running an open stock dp and I do not really see any boost creep. I am running 20 psi though, so that may be why I don't see it.
Hope the info helps,
JB

apexi downpipes doesnt have a cat, if you wanted a good flowing exhaust why add a cat ?

i know that ithe apexi dp has no cat i live in CT we have emisions. so....... reason for the cat but now i want to get rid of it and was wondering about boost creep with a full 3inch setup.

Yes it will creep, even if you have a high flow cat installed on your 3" DP. Pull the exhaut housing off of your turbo, open up the wastegate opening, and do some porting on the inside of the housing to help direct more exhaust towards the wastegate instead of to the turbine wheel.

probably.

i run 2.5" tp/dp with a 3" catback and creep to 19psi from 16 psi.. with MASSIVE porting of the o2 and flapper area and turbine housing...

can that harm your car if it creeps 3 psi?

I have an 3" o2 eliminator and a 34mm flapper. I have my boost set at about 20. It spikes to 21 and settles to 18-19 at redline. No creep. IT pretty much acts this way now with the test pipe as it did with the 3" cat.

i use to run a ported big16g from RRE.. i have a RRE 3" downpipe.. its actually 2.5" before the flex and 3" after.. to a 3" highflow cat and 3" greddy PE catback.. ive ran it like that.. and a few times swapped in my 3" test pipe.. both times. no creep or spike.. using old RRE MBC..
i run ths same exhaust setup with my 50 trim and now greddy type s ebc.. no probs.. oh yea.. also stock 2g mani and o2 housing..

3 psi usually isn't bad, all I do is hit fuel cut all day. of course over time that is detrimental, but it's ok for now.

the boost creep you wanna be worried about is 25+ psi :toobad: WTF

GPT and redturbo, i'd imagine you guys were running relatively high boost with your 16G setups? as we all know, most boost creep occurs with low boost [ stock - 16 psi ].. just wanted to clarify.

I used to run a clipped big 16g with a 7cm housing, no port job, full 3inch exhaust, and a ported 2g o2 housing. I never had creep or spike. Im currently running a 14b with a full 3inch exhaust with a ported 2g o2 housing, and agian no spike or creeping at all. Even when I would run with no exhaust, still didn't creep.

I can also set my boost anywhere from 11-20+psi with no spike or creeping.

Ditto - 3" here with High flo cat. Most everything ported (but not wastegate) 16g - it creept a bit but I got it fine tuned and boost set to 21 and now no more creep :thumb: It also holds it there until about 7400 where it starts to drop off. I think a ported wastegate would have helped some - not sure if it would have eliminated creep all together.

I liked my solution - the car pulls much stronger now. (It was set at a 'safe' 17 lbs and would creep a little to 20)

I have the 3" Extreme Motorsport's setup from turbo to downpipe without a cat, I run 20 psi on the street with my Evo 3 GT. I usually fall off from 20 to 18-19 at higher RPM, is this typical for people? I don't have any creep issue at all which I was worried about. I run a header and ported O2 Housing so maybe that makes a difference...

I don't know if you guys are aware.. but the 34mm flapper is what holds 16G's back at higher boost.

search around, it's said over and over again that a stock flapper actually is better for high boost applications, that's why it drops off.

that said, I took will soon be on the same boat.

I hear this a lot but I never experienced it with my 16g. I think it may come more from weak actuators than the actual flapper.

I have an RRE 3 inch downpipe no cat anywhere in the exhaust system with a Killer 16g and its suppose to be at 9psi with the wastgate and its creeps about a psi sometimes but nothing more than that.

same here with an evo16g and hi-flow cat

I am currently running 450 injectors since one of my 680's decided to stop working on me. Basically I have a true 3inch exhaust from the turbo's o2 housing straight through to my 3.5 inch magnaflow muffler. the boost is set at 10 psi and I get no creep what so ever. Maybe it's the boost controlers? All I know is my car hauls ass in every gear with only the 450's so I cant wait till I get my hands on my 680's again danm does it feel good.
