1G 2nd, 3rd and 4th gear grinding - Need help

Hi,

I recently bought a 1g Talon Tsi and sometimes 2nd, 3rd and 4th gear will grind every time I shift.

And another thing I found out is that the car wasn't starting when I first got it due to the clutch pedal not touching the master cylinder rod. And it still doesn't touch even though I have adjusted the rod.

Could this be the problem, as the clutch my not be engaging properly? I haven't changed the fluid in the transmission or bled the slave yet since I just got the car.

I am new to DSM's so any help will be much appreciated.

deff blead slave, but if that dosent work go get a haynes manual and look up the clutch pedal adjustment you might have to much play in the pedal travel not alowing the clutch to fully disengage

Also you will want to check to see if the synchronizer's (sorry about the spelling) in the trany. I had a 91 gsx years ago (the one i should have never gave up) and had this same problem and when I pulled the trany sure enough that was the problem. Just a thought for you.

I just got under and noticed that the master cylinder rod is going through a hole in the clutch pedal. Is that hole is supposed to be plugged? because the rod goes ride through it and never engages.
