i have an 2g eclipse n/t i want to do an engine swap and put a galant vr-4 clyclone turbo engine in it...will it fit? Also what is the model number on a galant vr-4 engine...i know the eclipse gst is 4g63t.

Holy Flame Retardant Suit, Batman!

It won't fit without some work. Basically what you have to do is rip out everything in your engine bay, like p/s lines, a/c lines, mounts, etc. (very long list of stuff) and start all over with turbo car stuff, because, in case you haven't noticed, the 4g63 sits backwards from the 420a, which is the crappy dodge neon motor you have now.
I am actually trying to find a turbo parts car for my swap, 420a-4g63T
which I am only doing because my 420a was knocking reallly bad. My motor is out now and I am starting to make a list of stuff I will need for the swap, and it is a very long list. Another problem you will have is that the transmission that will come with the jdm motor will be awd, and that won't work without welding the center diff.

Try searching, awhile back there was someone who did this swap, and there is a tech article about it under misc. too. If your motor runs, just get the turbo kit from Hahn Racecraft or make your own kit.

The engine name for the Galant motor and the U.S. motor are the same,
4g63T

Have fun with that neon motor.:laser: :barf:

ok thanks a lot...i think i have decided to just take a 2g 4g63t engine and swap because the neon engine sucks ass!! also the hahn turbo kit is way to expensive...not cost effective at all..it would be cheaper to put a turbo engine in my car then to make 420a a turbo engine

Yea, the main reason I am doing the swap is because I would have to buy another 420a and then the turbo kit.

I can give you a list of the parts needed if you want. I would just try to buy the JDM motor only and then get a 2g U.S. trans, because the JDM trans. have screwy gears and they are awd only unless you have an automatic.
You will want to find a 2g turbo parts car from the junkyard and swap the parts from that, because it would be way too expensive to get the parts individually. Also, you need a welder and someone that can weld to swap the mounts to the other side.
Here is a link to this swap on dsmtuners:

Good luck with your swap.:thumb:

This is my car now: :dsm:
