2gen automatic turbo talon wont rev past 2000 STOCK

My friend picked up this 2 gen yesterday completely stock the guy said it had a maf problem but i when i drobe it it didnt seem that bad so we took it and 2 miles down the road it wouldnt want to go past 2000rmp and it was going like around 30MPH. so i we left the car in a parking lot came back home got My MAF installed it and it worked but after 5 more miles it started doing it again we managed to get it home and bored another working maf from an Automatic Turbo eclipse and it didnt work either. I hooked up an OBDII Scaner to check if there were any codes and to my surprise there wasnt any so i put back MY MAF and it worked then we put his stock one back and IT WORKED But then after a while it stoped working AGAIN im Thinking it would be the ECU i would appreciate any Theory to this mindboggling issue thanks

Does it go past 2k when you are parked and rev it?

No it didnt but i Think i figured it out already my friends test driving it Right now. the Retarded last owner put 420a NGK-R spark plugs and took it to a So Called mechanic and he told him it was the MAF not only were they the wrong plugs they were gaped wrong Thank you for your help though

Are you venting? Sounds like you're in limp mode. Make sure you have no huge leaks and that your recirc pipe is hooked up to your intake (and take your bov off, make sure it's fitted back in properly and re-tighten the worm screw), my car wont go past 2k like yours unless my recirc. hose is hooked up properly, along with my bov.
