Ok, So im a "newbie" and im buying all the parts for my 95 GSX from oversea's. (ARMY) Ive been following the "2G Tech Guide" pretty closely but have ran into a problem with which turbo is really right for me. Im trying to build a car that I can use on the street but blow vets away one the strip.
See I want the quick spool of a S16G but not really impressed with the HP gains. I found the FP Green online and was excited about it but then my buddies at home said i was stupid and it would blow my bottom end.
(Pretty sure there being bias cause they dont want me to build a DSM that will beat theirs.)
I know most of you have been building these cars for years so what im asking is for a setup that will help me achieve my goals. (Money's not a problem)

Turbo, manifold, intake, BOV, Cams, waste-gate? I'm pretty sure I have purchased everything else mentioned in the Stage 2 Tech Guide. . .

Turbo- Okay about turbo what are your goals ? How much hp are you looking for ??
Manifold- fp manifold that's the best manifold for dsm.
Intake- you can just buy the ebay intake with k&n air filter
BOV- greddy type s or just stock 1g bov.
Cams- tell me what are your goals ? and turbo
wastegate - you can use your stock internal wastegate with the turbo or just buy the external wastegate
but if u buy the external wastegate you will need to buy different manifold or o2housung to install it
external wastegate helps eliminate your boost creep and sounds REALLY NICE.

and I hope you know that you will need bigger injectors and fuel pump and something to tune with.

:)

My goals are in the 400 range without building the bottom end. . .

Mods already purchased-
Front-mount intercooler WALBRO 255 LPH Fuel Pump Aeromotive Fuel Pressure Regulator Kit 850cc Delphi Low Impedance Injectors DSM FUEL PUMP REWIRE KIT NGK 7mm Spark Plug Wires & Plugs N1 3" CATBACK EXHAUST
SEIBON CARBON FIBER HOOD
APEXi S-AFC Apexi AVCR boost controller APEXi Turbo Timer
F1 RACING STAGE 2 CLUTCH & FIDANZA FLYWHEEL
GODSPEED 2g suspension sway bar F&R ENERGY HYPER-FLEX MASTER BUSHING KIT

And I definetly want to do the external waste-gate route.
Thanks!

I personally like the fp 68hta or the fp green turbo wise. As for cams, I'd get some good springs and throw some kelford 264's or a kelford 264/270 combo in there and be good to go.

Cool, So you dont think either of those turbos will blow my motor? And what do you mean by "Good springs"?

I believe the key is tuning any turbo within the limits of your setup. You might not maximize the turbo's potential but it will get you to your hp goal easier than with a smaller turbo. Establish that your motor is healthy and tune it for your hp goals. I feel like a well running 4g63 can handle 400 hp, many people have done it.

You might want to reconsider your tuning tools. I dont think a SAFC will cut your tuning needs. Do you have an eprom ecu? Check out ECMLink for a better alternative that wont break the bank.

Ditch that AFC and get DSMlink. I have Supertech dual valve springs and have had no problems with them. If you're shooting for 400ish, don't worry about the motor if it's healthy. People have made well beyond that with no issues. IF you have e85 I would look into that as well. e316g/e85 would be a great street setup and probably 12s at the track.

Yeah, I started with the basic maintance before purchasing anything after-market. To my surprise everything was in good general condition besides plugs, wires, wheel bearings, inner/outter tire rod ends, sway bar links and timing belt. LOL
I did the compression test before i bought the vehicle and the motors in great shape.

-I believe this to be true but is it not possible using the S-AFC?

And I looked at the HTA 68, its basically just a souped up 16G? I feel if I purchase the FP HTA68 I will be limiting myself in future upgrades. (Mod motor rebuild this winter) Im thinking the FP Green in basically a 20G right?

What do i need to purchase to successfully install either of these turbo setups. I hate surprises!

OK So this is what ive got so far-
INTAKE-It doesnt matter what kind of air intake i purchase,
BOV-Greddy Type-S
CAMS-Kelford 264/270's
SPRINGS- Supertech dual valve springs
WASTEGATE-External, what size though?
MANIFOLD-Header or Manifold? There has to be some numbers out there somewhere which shows better gains on one or the other. . . Right?
TURBO-Stuck between the FP Green and the FP 68HTA. Whats would you get running a stock bottom end with a low power-band spool yet high HP yields?

Oh and i looked into the DSM-Link. . . Should be here in about a week. Thanks for that info, didnt know about them. :thumb:

Go with the 68 HTA and the stock exhaust manifold, you'll hit 400. You'll need the same parts as you would for any MHI turbo (search 14b or 16g in a 2g). A 1G BOV will be a good option if you want to save some money. Wastegate size won't matter much either.
