Hey all, has anyone instead of using studs for the thermostat housing and other two studs on that side of the head used bolts? And if so were there any issues/needing longer bolts? I can't get the studs out of my 6 bolt head and would like to actually get the 7 bolt back together.

The 2G originally used bolts for its thermostat housing where the 1G used studs.

The bolts for the 2G are M8 x 1.25mm pitch, (3x) 25mm long and (1x) 50mm long. The studs for the 1G are described here: 1G thermostat housing studs? They're mainly 25mm long, also M8 x 1.25mm pitch.

If you have a 1G head and need bolts for the CAS and 1G thermostat housing, I believe you would actually want to be using shorter bolts than those listed, not longer. The studs provide support for the housing when going to mount it to the head. That extra length would not be required if you swap the studs for bolts. I would suggest 18mm or 20mm bolts for that.

Awesome, thank you. I appreciate the help!
