Hope everyone is good first and foremost.

I'm trying to figure out what is the limit of the 2g diff cover power wise? I see a lot of talk with how the 2g diff covers are prone to cracking but at what hp/et level? I have my diff out at the moment and was wondering if it's worth getting a billet cover of just keep the stock one.

End goal of my car is around 450-500whp in the 11 sec range (car has all supporting mods to do it).

I was looking at the Frontline Fabrication cover but seen guys have been having issues with them (not sure if issues ever got resolved). All driveline components are pretty much solid bushings so no slop at all. I'm just wondering with my goals will the stock cover be fine?

Depends on the condition of your existing rear diff cover. If it is corroded and beat to crap, it will fail sooner or later with a nice hard launch.

If you have already done the rear diff to subframe bushings and the front rear diff mount bushing AND your cover is in great shape, you should be fine.
 
Well, it also requires the mounting tab to be welded onto the subframe to run Boston Hatcher's billet front mounts.
 
Thanks for the response guys. The rear bushings and all 3 diff bushings were replaced with the bushings from gsx dude on here. The diff has never leaked or given me a problem but when I was about to put it back in the car I noticed that the previous owner must have used an impact tighten the cover and on one of the outside ears for the bolts split (cracked a tiny bit). Like I said never had a issue with it before though.
 
Also if you have a welded center diff, you'll break it sooner in my experience, broke my stock one when the car was running high 11's with a welded center. Went to a 4 spider and it made it to the bottom 11's before going to a non-oem/girdled cover.
 
Watch for cracking around the upper mount area, is there any visual oil seepage from the cover around the mounting fasteners?
 
Kinda figured that much when it's service time. Well I'm relieved so now I can put the car back together. I'll look for another cover in the meantime though. Thanks to all you guys for the information I really appreciate it.
 
Wheel hop and solid diff cover mounting bushings are what will break them. I think you could break it going 14's under the wrong conditions or easily go 9's or maybe even 8's under the right conditions. A solid front mount will help some and a second solid front mount will help a ton.

The solid rear mounts put additional stress and vibration on the already weak aluminum cover where rubber bushings allow a little give and make it less likely to break if the diff undergoes some shock. Think of the stock bushings as shock isolators commonly used for sensitive equipment in intense environments.
 
Well I'm using the POM bushings from Gsx-dude. If adding another front bushing is as easy as getting another front mount and welding on a mounting tab for it I'm down for it....that way I don't have to buy another set of bushings and a billet mount.
