my buddy just picked up a 97 nt from PA on saturday. its going to be his DD but were having issues. we test drove the car there a week before and it ran great. picked it up, drove half way down the road (like a mile) and it died.. messed around with a few connections, like the power wire to the fuse box and the car ran. drove it home and all saturday night. went to start it sunday morning and nothing. the car has no spark and no fuel and will just crank over

heres a list of what weve checked already:

-changing plugs and wires
-timing check
-compression check showed 230 across the head
-checked all senser connections
-tried swappinng in ecu out of a running car
-and a lot more i cant think of, we were messing with this thing for 5 hours +

i know the 4g like the back of my hand but this is a new motor im not too familier with

any help in the right direction is much apretiated. thanks

There is a relay on the drivers side firewall near the brake booster and etc. The ecu grounds it and supplies power to all the engine sensors etc. You might want to check that. and the crank/rpm sensor on the back of the block by the oil filter.

thank you very much for the reply. how ever since i didnt get any feed back for a few days. he took it to the shop.. but we will see what up and ill post back...:talon:

alright well its been a month about. hes had the car and a small garage and then at a mitsu dealership.... and still noone can figure this thing out

heres what else has been checked or changed-
-computer was replaced
-fuel fiter was replaced, tank was drained, checked for water and refilled(mitsu did this)
-crank senser was replaced
-wiring on the ignition circuit was redone(short was found)
-plugs and wires were replaced

we just cant figure this out and its just getting frusertating at this point... his turbo car is his reliable car right now and runns greats. he just needs the gas milage back...

any help at all would be greatly apreiciated PLEASE:cry:

Same problems here, And I dont have an answer either.

The asd relay would be a good thing to check if you havn't checked or replaced it yet, as well as your cam position sensor. I have been told that its not uncommon for the magnet to get loose on the end.

I have the same problems, and none of these have made anything better except for lightening my wallet.

If anyone has some ideals I would like to here them as well, otherwise I've got 4 sticks of tnt for each corner of this car.

so last night i disocnected the Coolent temp senser, and the car ran great, just a few idel problems. so now at this point im leading tword the ecu. i think the shop may have given him the wrong one... let you know when i know more
