would this be a good car to get becuz i would like something a little faster than my 1g n/t 5 speed. the 2g has a lot more in aftermarket than the 1g. the only problem with the 2g is its auto would it be possible to be fast with a auto or would it be better to swap it out. also before u say go buy a tsi i cant find any in my area. i was just wonder if this would be a good idea or not cause i can get it pretty cheap.

I would suggest you continue shopping. I am about as die hard a 2GNTer as you will find anywhere, and I'm telling you that, if you're interested in true performance and getting that performance for as little money as possible, you need to keep looking for a turbo car. Now, a 2GNT is a fine car. I love mine. I wouldn't trade her for all the world, but you're talking 2GNT automatic. I've seen some of those running mid-16s WITH a turbo kit installed. Then again, I know a guy who runs 13s with a boosted 2GNT auto. The difference between two cars? About $6,000 worth of mods.

A 2GNT is a great car with a lot of potential, and an auto tranny model has it's plusses too, but it has to be the absolutely slowest DSM ever made.

I say, keep shopping.

Yea, definatly keep shopping, if you want the performance path, you should really start with a stick no matter where you go, especailly if your planning on driving a NT. Automatic's do have there benifits but performance is definatly not one of them.

I would have to agree, and I have an auto. haha You will need to build the auto tranny for it to put out decent numbers. The power loss is seriously ridiculous. :|

Yeah my buddy with an automatic GSX, was having trouble fending me off, and he's running 18lbs off a greddy 18g with front mount intercooler and supporting fuel mods.
and all I had was my turbo kit and boost at 5lbs with 170whp.
Especially on the freeway, if I take off a head of him, he can barely catch up.

yup...that's drivetrain loss for ya ;)
