2g maf and rc550's

Ok so I just bought my laser rs. It has either hesitation or misfire under boost. Did a leak test and everything is tight no leaks whatsoever. pulled the plugs and they look great. Im gonna replace the plugs and wires anyways so we'll see after that. my big question is. the previous owner did a 2g maf and rc 550's. besides the 2g exhaust mani and dejon intake pipe those are the only mods. Im not sure if he tuned it or what. Could that also be an issue?? bare with me. Im new to dsm. lastly, Is dsmlink universal. as in if I had my eprom socketed could I just purchase a chip and use my friends software? He has a hptuner for his 06 gto and that just plugs into the stock ecu. he can tune as many gm vehicles he chooses. just didnt know if dsmlink was similar in that way. cheers

So, it has a stock ecu with 2g mas and 550cc injectors? dsmlink is universal for 1g's.(Any 1g dsmlink chip will work in a 1g ecu) Really all he needs is a chip or safc. Unless he is getting serious with timing and wants more power don't bother with dsmlink

the guy I bought it from said he tuned it with a safc and maft. But it didnt come with the car. So I would assume the ecu is stock. my buddy has a 1g talon and hes got his eprom socketed. he wants to get dsmlink. Basically i'm wondering if we both have to buy dsmlink. or can I get just the chip and we can share the software? that way we can split the cost of the software.

its the chip you need, to run ecmlink in a car it needs an eprom ecu with the ecmlink chip installed.

You can share one laptop when tuning, but both cars will need an eprom ecu and ecmlink chip installed to utilize the software.

You could also just go to dsmchips.com and they can hook you up if you don't have the money.

Edit: No they cannot because i guess they are only doing upgrades at this time..

I hate to beat a dead horse here, but we'll both need to buy the whole kit? chip, cable, software, etc...

YOU WILL NEED FOR EACH CAR THE FOLLOWING:

-epron ecu socketed
-ECMlink chip

If you have two cars, you can use the same cable and laptop software for both cars.

They sell them in packages so might as well get two of everything if needed. The able by its self is 75 bucks, maybe if you order ecmlink you can only order one cable, but I have only one 1g and I have an extra cable just in case soemthing happens (I have slammed the cable in the door may times already).

For you to better understand, We could say that ECMLink is just the chip and it comes with the cable..... But according to manage the chip, you need a laptop.
So you can use your friend's laptop and cable if you don't want to buy it.

The ECMLink Software is free... You can download them any time from their WEB.

Ok so lets assume he bought the whole package. I would just need the chip, correct? but you cant just buy the chip. not according to ecmlink.com unless there are other options for chip. ill get this sooner or later

I dont think there are any other options, maybe buy it used from a member.

exactly what I wanted to know. Thank you! And I installed ngk BPR6ES spark plugs. Car runs great, with no hesitation or misfire. Ill be doing the wires too, they will be here monday.

Although Jeff (Dsmchips) doesn't sell Chips anymore... .
Theirs plenty of other people that can burn chips (myself-included) or you could if you have the knowledge.
If your trying to stay in a budget those mods would pretty simple an really not need dsm/emclink
