Alright, I got my ODBII->Serial adapter today. I'm going to play with it later with my hot synch cradle (serial hotsync cable hasn't arrived yet). Both the cable and the cradle have the hotsync button on them. Do I need to press the button to get the cable to recognize that it's pluged into something, or should it just do it automatically?

Nope, I didn't have to do it. You'll know when it says there is a link.

I would say the same as 96whgsx. You don't need to push the button. If the software is somewhat the same as the digital tuning software that I have then there is a good chance that the software will attempt to connect to the car on it's own. If it dosn't you usually need to key the car off and then on again and it will normally sync up.
