Hotsync problems....

I bought a datalogger package off of EBAY.It came with a m100 with software already installed, a hotsync cradle, ands the logger cable.I don't know if it's settings in the palm that i need to change or what but it gives me this message when press the hotsync button.("you tapped local hotsync while connected to a modem, to perform a modem hotsync tap modem hotsync")What does this mean? should i just ditch the cradle and get a cable??Thanks.

Well I assume that you are using Palm Desktop. If so then when it is minimized in the lower right part of your comp. screen, then click on it and you need to make sure that the serial port thing is checked, not the USB. That is a big problem people have. Well that of course is only if you are using a serial port and not a USB. Either way you need to make sure that you have the right kind of port selected.

O well i dont know what a cradle is, so just get rid of it.

Also, you shouldnt be trying to 'hotsync' to your car. It cant, and thats not how your supposed to log. If you have software on the palm already, then what is it? MMCD, Tunerstein, Palm-n-stein, Pocketlogger? And by software do you mean, tuning software or what?

I have palm n' stein and MMCD.My palm is actaully a m105 (oops) It doesn't have a serial port on it so you have to put it an a cradle, which the logger cable connects to.I think i'm hooking it up right so i don't know whats up.

My cable only has 3 wires 1 that goes to the upper connector and the two that loop together.Should it have a power wire like the one pocketlogger sells?

Did this "logger" come with instructions? Its such a simple process, turn on the car, turn on the logger and start the logger program. Use the "monitor" function in mmcd to see "real time" logging.

That's what i was saying....I'm not getting any readings.Prolly a bad cable.Or it'sa missing the power wire (if there is even supposed to be one.)

ok did you even find the logger program on the palm poliot. and is it registered if it isn't it won't log, atleast mine wont.

Well if you want a good cable, go to the vendor announcements and search for a guy name galant_vr4, i think. Thats who I got mine from and its great. 30 shipped with software(MMCD). Thats if he still sells them.

palm n' stein and MMCD were both pre-installed and MMCD came on a disk.I can get into the programs just fine, it's just that the palm won't communicate with my car for some reason.In the bottom left corner of MMCD the little "hz" symbol has a 0 in front of it with the car running.

there should be two grounds and one red hot wire the hot wire goes on the pin in the upper left corner of the connecter, the two grounds go on the right most colum and are 1 and 3 pin starting from bottom and going up.

I had zeros two at first, because I bumped the hot wire with my leg causing it to fall off

The wire (and could be any color) on pin 1 of the DLC isn't a hot wire. It's the data line.
Only active logger cables need and use a power wire and those run to the fuse box. The passive cables like the one being discussed don't need external power.

ok I was just trying to make it very simple, yes it can be blue yellow red green, but most likly it's not black. The two grounds put the ecu into dianostic mode, and the pin one is where the data comes from. I ment to say data wire, not power wire.
