My car is currently down right now, but when I have it up and running again, I want to start playing with the boost levels.

Upon further research, I've noticed that you do not want to turn your boost up unless you have a datalogger. I've noticed lots of talk about palms..

It would be great if I could do everything through a Palm Pilot. The car is a 95' so it is OBD-1 correct?

I have multiple old school palm pilots laying around my house. Hell I've got an m125 that's been sitting in a drawer for years. Basically I'm just wanting to know how I can get the cable, software, and what I need to do to start datalogging.

I've got an MBC but I don't think that it works. It was turned all the way up when I bought the car, but I turned it back down, I haven't verified if it works yet because I still need to install my boost gauge. My Blitz Turbo Timer's boost gauge read 1.43kpa under WOT. I have no idea how much psi that is.

So in a nutshell..
-Will the m125 work?
-What's needed to start datalogging?
-Where can I find cables and software?

Assuming you car is OBD II (95 is a strange year, so make sure it is):

I got my dualogger from http://obdloggers.com/ for $140 shipped. Has the option to use either the included palm iii with OBDgauge (which I can't complain about), or your laptop with Proscan. Proscan is a really nice program which includes everything OBDgauge has plus a Dyno, Race track analysis and the option to easily move your data to Microsoft Excel.

If you have OBD I you can make your own logger cable and use MMCD (freeware), but I have no first hand experience with that.

Well it looks the same as the one I received from Pocketlogger.com but I'm not going to tell you it will work.

Plus, you still need software afterwards. I suppose you could use tunerstein, but digitaltuning's software is pretty good and well supported if you need help.

The obdloggers also looks really good, but it seems as though they are out of stock for 2Gs. If you can manage to get a hold of that, $140 for a COMPLETE kit is an awesome deal. You don't need a fancy schmanzy palm pilot, as from what I understand, samples per second is more limited by the car's ECU than the palm pilot itself.

Well I'm just wanting to use that cable because I have multiple palm pilots already and I could use the free software. My Talon needs quite a bit of work and that $140 could be used for something more practical (towards a paint job/body work) so I am hoping to go about it inexpensively. I guess I could order the cable and give it a try, it's pretty inexpensive anyways.

Quote from the Ebay auction"
"This auction is for high quality 6-foot (1.8 meters) OBD-II cables, with molded connectors and strain relief. It is intended to be used by people who build their own diagnostic scan tools.
Please note that this cable cannot be used alone, you need some sort of hardware OBD-2 interface"

The cable won't work by itself. You need an interface to "translate" the car's language to your PDA.

All 1995 DSM's are OBD-II even though the government mandate wasn't until the 1996 model year.

An m125 will work just fine, although you will need a serial hotsync cable if you don't already have one.

I would recommend the PocketLogger software. It will come with the OBD-II to serial interface you will need to get you up and running. Oh, and make sure you get that boost gauge installed, ASAP. :thumb:

Yep I definitely verified it was OBDII last night.. bummer.

Oh well there's a local guy selling a logger for like $75 all new including the palm. I'll probably just pick that up.

Ya I just bought that cable but didn't research enough before I did. Crap. Um, so where can I get a cheap interface at? I don't want retail but what model specifically, if there is one, do I look for?
