Ive search and all i can find are unanswered threads and stuff i have already done. 1995 tsi awd 14b header fmic apxi turbo back no cat rear o2 eliminator new upstream o2 new plugs wires ecu caps fixed and socketed. My problem when you start the car it idles about 800rpm let it warm up take it down the high way it will be at 1500rpm drive home by time i get home it will be at 2000rpm. Let it cool down and it idles at 800 again WTF? so i checked the isc blocked off the fiav cleaned the throttle body adjusted the biss adjusted the throttle cable checked for vacuum leaks/boost leaks still idles all crazy:banghead:

Anyone run into this and have you got it fixed?
Can you eliminate the isc with out the 2g throwing a code?

I had the same issue, it turned out to be the control cable pulley system sticking. I read up on it and it seems it happens to a few people. You can order the OEM non-cruise throttle cable off a 2.4 spyder, or you can do what i did and take out the cruise box and mad a bracket for the original throttle cable.

Lots of places i read up on this said you cant make the stock throttle cable work, but um...I did. I bent some sheet metal, drilled a hole and bolted it on. I'll take pictures if you want.

Thank you i think you may be right cause when it high idles you can get out and push the throttle body closed and it will idle down but there's really not much tension on the throttle cable? Ill have to check it out thanks for the input and pics would be awesome.

I recently ran into a similar problem and I noticed my idle would rise when it got hotter. In the morning it would idle near perfect wit no problems but once the car got warmed up it would idle anywhere from 1400-2200. Come to find out my throttle cable was sticking as well due to the extensive heat. I loosened it and adjusted my BISS and it solved all my problems. Just a heads up, maybe your problems are similar.

+1 on the throttle cable sticking. Had that issue with a recent 2g I worked on. Set the cable with little to no tension. After warm up and taking it out to do some pulls it wouldnt idle below 2k. Losened the cable and the idle was perfect.

If you had some slack in the line still but were able to "force" the throttle closed, maybe check the plate for any carbon build up. It could cause your plate to stay open slightly even when you let off the gas.

Thanks for all your suggestions it looks to be the throttle cable sticking wanna dump the cruise control and see if that helps

Increased idle speed when motor warms up = throttle cable adjusted too tight.

Loosen up the tension on the cable just a bit. Use the bracket that is located on the back of the IM. It's held in place with 2 10mm bolts.

I had this problem It would idle on a hot day at 3500rpms since i purchased my car new in 95 it was intermittent so we could never catch it luckily we caught it 2 yrs ago it was the throttle cable to tight simple fix that drove me crazy for 10 yrs hope this helps

I know I'm 6 years behind but I'm having a similar issue where my car idles good when cold but goes up and up once warm. Need some more under the hood time to pin point it. I'll check the throttle cable tomorrow after the temps and idle go up but curious why would temperature make the cable pull tighter and open the throttle plate?

The reason it will pull tighter is when the engine gets warm the throttle cable heats up with it and actually "shrinks" it a bit. I had the same issue when I first bought my car. Best thing to do to make sure it is good is when the engine is fully warm, loosen the two bolts that secure the throttle cable to the top of the intake manifold. Slide that plate forward a bit to let a little bit of slack in it and see if that solves your problem. If so then just slide that plate back so the throttle cable is tight without pulling the throttle plate open and it's good to go.

It turned our being the throttle cable. However when I went to adjust the cable via the slider on the intake manifold one of the bolts snapped so I said screw that and adjusted it from the cruise control junction whatever it is called
