Has anybody ever swaped a 1g head for a 2g head? I've searched this topic and all I can find is 2g head for a 1g head. My timing belt jumped and bend the valves, and I have a 2g parts car with a good head. I was wanting to just switch heads but I can't find any info on it. Can anybody help me out on this please?

It can be done, and bolt right up, but the intake ports are smaller on a 2g head so it will restrict air flow. If you are going to, I would suggest port matching to fit the 1g runners.

Just make sure you use factory head bolts since the 2g holes are 1mm smaller. Also if you are going to feed oil off the head, make sure the galley is clear and that you have good oil pressure to the turbo.

you will need to drill out the holes for the head studs. also there is no oil port for the turbo on a 2g head (atleast not mine), why dont you just take the 2g head and have the valves put into the 1g head. my local shop charges $2 a part to swap. so it might not be that expensive

There is an oil port on the front passenger side of the head. Right next to the water neck.

I thought the valves where different sizes?

no, they are the same. all of the aftermarket valves and even the stock replacements are for a 90-99 eclipse on slowboys site...ports are different.

my 97 didnt have one on it so it might have been a 95/96 thing.

What about the water neck, it bolts up different between the two. Is the sensors the same between the two? Will they plug up the same?

you need the matching water neck and lower coolant pipe, and t stat housing and the matching lower coolant pipe. the sensors will transfer over...keep the 1g tb, stay with the matching manifold but port the 2g to match the tb. as the 1g manifold has bigger ports but the ports on the head are smaller. so it would be like hitting a brick wall, as it doesnt funnel nicely, but some say they like the 1g manifold better. its up to you
