Hi, folks.
I bought a second-hand 95 GST about ten years ago. There has no factory theft-alarm since I owned it. I am not sure either the former owner disabled it or my car itself wasn’t equipped.
Recently, I found there is a connector in engine bay near the driver’s headlight, and it was confirmed for the hood switch. So I went getting a switch and then connected to the harness, but nothing happened.
Would anyone kindly let me know how my car can have the alarm function of hood-opened?
Thanks.

Here comes the picture of interior fuse box, and it does have the ETACS-ECU.

If it is there, it doesn't necessarily mean you have the alarm. I have a 97 Spyder which never was available with a power driver seat, yet it has the pig-tail for it, and indeed powers the power seat when installed. The harnesses among the turbo models, regardless of hard top/ soft top, FWD/ AWD are basically the same. The only real difference being in transmission type. The harness between models should be the same regardless of installed options.

Look for the relays that are located to the upper right of the fuse box. It's a light tan plastic thing that is bolted under the dash and has 3 relays (power windows, theft alarm horn relay, and theft alarm headlamp relay) and 2-3 fuses. I think the two smaller relays are for the alarm system. The other part of the alarm/keyless entry is located behind the quarter panel plastic on the driver side rear seat.

The other thing is that every 2g had an ETACS ecu on the back of the fuse box regardless of having an alarm or not. The theft alarm ETACS can be identified by having a slightly larger (houses 2-4 more pins) connector on it. Other than that, outward appearance is the same. You would have to count how many pins the ETACS plug has to be sure.

If you dont have the theft alarm etacs, you would have to switch all your wiring harnesses over to get a working system due to many things being wired differently. Not worth it in my opinion.

I didn't find the horn near the battery, but there is a 2-pin connector between the battery and firewall. I don't know if the connector works.

Hi, jdodds. your point of view may be right. I noticed it's a 16-pin connector plugging to the ETACS when I removed it yesterday. After checking the service manual, it indicates the 16-pin car would not be equipped the theft-alarm system.
So that's why I want to know if I have any chance to get the hood switch function. I agree your opinion that it's not worth to do it.

Also, I checked there is no Keyless Entry system there, but only two connectors. I guess they are for Keyless Entry Module and relay. There is only one relay installed on fuse box you mentioned, and it is for power window. But I supposed it's not the matter of relays, right?
