Hey everyone, I have a GSX that only starts sometimes, and when it actually does start up it won't idle and just cuts out. Anyone have any guesses as to whats wrong? :ohdamn:

Check your timing before you do much more. If timing is fine I would check the coolant temp sensor is plugged in and the wires aren't frayed. You also need to check if fuel pump is working and that your getting spark. These should be things you do before you start a post on here to eliminate the simple things like fuel/spark etc.

A few things to check, cause i just experienced a similiar problem. Make sure your timing is good and all the marks line up. Do a compression test. Make sure you MAF is plugged in and isnt bad. Also make sure that the O-rings on your injectors aren't bad. Also check and make sure all of your vacuum lines are connected.

I had a problem where my car wouldn't stay running and was running like crap just a few days ago. Turned out that 3 of my injectors had bad o-rings.

Thank you all so much for the replies, I really appreciate it!! I've been pretty strapped for time with school and finals but this weekend i'm going to try the suggestions and see what it could be. Some more info that is prob useful:

**I swapped in a rebuilt engine from another gsx, car ran perfectly absolutely no problems for a short time. Then the headgasket blew from what I suspect was a bad coolent leak. Replaced the headgasket and now getting the problem of having it cut out.

This info prob changes alot i should have included it, im just trying to figure this out while having work and school....

Any help is appreciated, thanks!!!

The base idle could have gotten messed up during the swap. If you have checked what is mentioned above, adjust the BISS and make sure the throttle cable is set right.
