Hi
I have a 2G Eclipse GST and my question is: can I use a 2g GS exhaust on my 2g GST?
The reason I am asking this is because in Norway it's impossible to get a new or used GST exhaust.

I have to swap the exhaust I have now so the car is legal on the road in Norway. After it's legal again I will swap back.

So is it possible to use a GS exhaust on my GST?

From the cat back can be swapped. This is typically an upgrade for non-turbo models to have the cat back section from a gst put on. So you should be fine to this for inspections. However, from the turbo to the cat can not be swapped.

Okay so firstly I presume by GS you mean the Euro version with the N/A 4G63? Also, just to clarify, by legal do you mean passing the emissions test? The part number for the GS and GS-T cataclytic converters are different, but I am uncertain whether they are the same size. It's quite possible they are. Also take a look at this picture; it seems to be the exact same piping from the cat onwards, so you should be able to do the swap.

yes GS the Euro non turbo 4g63.
Yes the emissions test and the exhaust i have now was also to loud.

So if i get the GS model's exhaust, the piping will fit? i just have to do some mod's to it?
I can try asking the local mitsubishi dealer about this now also. But i have tried that before, and they have NO knowledge about this car.
And they can not get a single part to this car.
So good information is hard to find in norway about this car.
so i appreciate all the information I can get

thanks for the info :)
just so i understand you correctly i can use exhaust from the cat and back from the non turbo 4g63
this will be able to connect with my stock manifold, turbo and downpipe?

What I would suggest you do so you can be 100% certain is measure the diameter of the exhaust piping that's after the catalytic converter on your GS-T (I believe it may be 2.25" but not sure), and also measure or ask someone who has a GS to do the same. You can also measure both converters. If the sizes are the same, then it should definitely fit. Actually I just checked and the gaskets used on the catalytic converter and pre-muffler have the same part number, which means GS-T and GS exhausts are the same sizes (like Spyderdrifter has confirmed).

So, if all of your GS-T pipes are okay and only your catalytic converter is bad, a GS cat should swap in and work fine. Hope this helps!

P.S: It's helpful if you fill out a DSM profile with your car and its mods so people can help you a little better.

Thank you thank you :) yes this helps alot :)

Perhaps not the cat, but the pipe that bolts to the back end of the cat, yes. The cat might also work, but you'd need to check the flange on the front side on both exhausts to be sure.

What I meant was the cat has two identical gaskets, one on each end of it (items 13010C and 13010D from the pic). The part number for the gasket itself is "MR323617" for 1998-1999 cars, and "MB687002" for 1995-1998. But in both cases they are the same for GS-T and GS. So if the gaskets are the same, logically the flanges before and after the cat are the same as well.

No, I agree with your info, I was only saying maybe not that cat based on my own reply since I thought of something from a while back in my own experiences.
