Hey I just bought my shell not too long ago and got the engine bay painted and bout to put the motor in out of my 97 GST in it just wondering what maintenance i should do on it before I put the Motor in? I was thinking timing belt (obviously), tensioner, idler pulleys, water pump, intake gasket, manifold gasket, and valve cover gasket.

Any more suggestions would be helpful just wondering if I got it all or not.

If it were me, I'd replace every seal and gasket since the engine is already out. And since you're doing a timing belt and water pump anyway, might as well pull the head off, and check all the valve train parts, valve seals, and check the deck surfaces for flatness. Also replace the rear main seal and front crank seal. Replace bearings ect...

Is it auto or manual? If it's manual check out the clutch and flywheel apart from that spyderdrifter got about everything. I'm pretty sure you can find a complete rebuild kit with most seals and gaskets, GL!

That's the kind of logic that always got me in trouble (with my wife). Engine is out, may as well do some maintenance. Doing maintenance, may as well rebuild the bottom end, etc etc.
If it were me, and hindsight being 20/20, I'd do a timing belt/water pump, manifold gaskets, arp head studs, and front/rear main seals.

Thanks for the info will definitely be noted I've heard a few say arp head studs especially when I get it together and wanna throw a lil more boost to it.

I feel you there, luckily, my wife usually doesn't have too much of an issue with me getting new parts for "maintenance" and upkeep ;) She's actually pretty understanding of getting all new parts.
