Ok, picked up this car yesterday...the car isnt sparking...figured it'd be pretty easy to figure out, its not...im getting power to the coil, the plug going to the coil gets a constant voltage, but i am told is supposed to pulsate when turning over? regardless, i'm not getting spark from the coil...here's what ive changed: brand new crank angle sens ; brand new cam positioning sens ; different "supposed" to work EcU ; new plug wires ; relays on d/s firewall...the coil checked out as per the haynes manual..its getting fuel, the pump comes on and i smell it in the exhaust...its just not sparking at all...the motor was rebuilt, and it hasnt been able to start since, according to the prev. owner...any ideas? thanks

I just had a 420a with cam/crank sensor configuration. While this is a 4g63, the theory should be the same. I found that the idler pulley had cratered on the timing belt and it jumped time. This will shut off your ignition as they are not synchronized.

Check that and let us know.

wrong forum,

But I noticed you didn't say what kind of spark plugs you were using, nore did u say you changed them (but I'll assume you did when you changed the wires and such.

Just rebuilt the motor....MOST common mistake is people flip flop the Speed sensor plug and coil harness plug since they are the same. With the Key on engine off, the center wire as you know is 12+ (I cant remember if the center wire on the speedo plug is the 12+ wire, that might clue you off right away). The coil harness plug as you know has the left and right wire as ECU triggers. With Key on engine off they will not show a connection to ground at all. The speedo plug with have a ground wire and an ecu signal wire.

Test the wires for the info above and hope you didnt flip those plugs because it's known to ruin an ECU. Timing is important but our car will bend its valves before the ECU cuts spark. If your 180* out then that could be a problem but IIRC the motor will still have spark.

Edit: Sorry the plug difference is for a 2gnt, i just realized your a Mitsu motor. I am really sorry
Terry
