first off i know how dumb this sounds but im not 100% sure what i have read i understand but is the coilover the spring around the shock in the wheel well?... thanks in advanced.

now here is the major question(s)

My transmission is either going out or my OD computer is ####ed, if i hit the gas slightly too hard the gears slip and downshift, with OD on it will stick in 3rd, or drap to 3rd, but ifi turn it off i can mash on the gas and it catches PERFECT, but i REALLY want a M/T, but i have a A604, i have read i can fit a Neon M/t on here, i have been searching for days and i can not find a set "minimum" price and parts(despite obvious parts) what parts do i NEED to have to drive, also if i do this is it safe to add a "F1 stage 2 clutch kit" from ebay while im at it? id like to do ALOT at once since this is my DD and project car LOL

please and thank you in advanced , yes i do realize this isnt the thread this should be in but i cannot post else where

the coilover is the whole spring and strut assembly in the wheel well. new coilovers replace that whole thing.

ebay clutches are something to be weary of. some people have had good ones others have had horror stories. buy a brand name one and do yourself the favor.

thank you, but that still was no help-.-, doesnt explain EXACTLY what they are just what the internet has told me 1000 times LOL
im trying to figure out when i do my tranny swap if i can just throw these on at the same time cause my ride is ####ed up

Tenzo Coilovers Springs 1995-1999 Eclipse 96 97 98 | eBay

someone recomended this as a safe clutch to buy if doing a a/t - m/t swap for budget, im new i really dont know what im doing its all a learning experience :)

If your car is not riding smooth or is very harsh the shocks are most likely in need of replacement. Replacing the springs will not make the ride any better if the shocks are bad. If you want an oem replacement shockes check out the KYB GR-2, they are about $200 for a set of four. If you want to replace your shocks and lower your car at the same time you may want to purchase a spring and shock combo such as the Tokico HP kit.

also no one has givin me a EXACT part forpart list for a A/T to M/T swap, i know i NEED the ecu, clutch(and everything to work it) but do i need new motormounts, or new Driver's side transmission mount,

basicly is everything pictured here

You will not need all the motor mounts. You will only need to get the rear transmission mount and bracket .(unless your other mounts are shot then I would replace them all)

Some people just cut their brake pedal to slim it down some to make room for the clutch pedal instead of replacing it.

You can also use this for more info.

soto sum the partlist all up i "NEED" is everything in the pictures in my previous post? and approx howmuch should this cost overall i have about 650$ i know i need more just dont know how much yet

Lots of 420a members have had great luck with the F1 clutch as said, aka the ebay brand, granted they are using as a stock replacement, if you are wanting an upgrade then go with a SBC.

thanks jared98, for poor reading skills, my first post stated i CAN NOT find a set list of parts i need OTHER THEN THE OBVIOUS. How am i gonna ad thihngs together if i cant know for sure what i need? im trying to double check the list i have is the list that is needed. I also fully understand the tranny swap is NOT for a beginner but i will be having 2 trained mechanics helping me step by step, but like ive said i am just making sure the list of parts i have matches what i truly need. I have been spent thelast week reading but no one has given a simple DIRECT answer other then "foto" about the clutch question.

not to mention when i googled coilover it did no real help. i asked what it is exactly and google just says they stiffen and lower a ride, but i still dont know how to install them exactly cause the parts dont even look like theyd fit my car

Sorry if i seem rude but ive been dealing with people giving me poor answers that dont help for days

Not to sound like a D#%k but did you even look at the link I posted?

yes, did you look at the one i posted? yours has alotta information missing, thats all i was trying to say, the one i posted had ~100+ pictures of all the parts i assumed were needed, i was just trying to get a yes or now if those pics where exaactly what i needed to do it. also i was asking people who have done it what they over all paid, so i can get a rough estimate to expact to pay, im sorry for being a ass.

Yes, that's pretty much all the stuff you need.
If you are really tight on money you can do without the:
Driver side mount
Brake pedal(just cut down the sides of the pedal to make room for the clutch pedal)
Gauge cluster

The whole swap cost me around $700(this is with random nuts and bolts needed along the way)
^^^^keep in mind I am a total noob and did this swap myself without any previous experience or help(Just read read readLOL
It all depends on how much work you are going to do your self.

THANK YOU, that is EXACTLY what i was looking for, i am doing 98% of the work myself with 2 mechanics LOL im extremely determined to do this, i LOVE my DSM, everyone else hates on it cause its rusted and dying(transmission) but its only my own fault LOL

another yes or no questiong, the the height of the pin for the a/t and m/t mounts wont effect anything much?

When I did my swap I only ran it for a few hundred miles and it didn't affect anything( I live on the country side too) , before I tore it apart again to rebuild the engine.

The main reason I left AT mount on was because I was planning on putting poly mount inserts in my mounts anyways.
Also I have ran my new build for another hundred miles here recently on the poly mounts, and if you look at the pin on the inserts they are almost dead center of the mount like the stock At mount so you should be good.

stupid clarification we're both talking about this part? Another dumb question(hense why im in the newpie section LOL) whats a poly mount? a "rubbery" mount to reduce movement? educated guess LOL

Bigger newbie question/issue

i know i "dogged/mashed" on my a604 tranny, but i know i was out of fluid also i added 2 qrts of castro ATF+4(i was told firmly this is completely safe fluid to use on a a604) it drove GREAT for about 5 min then slipped out of drive and into a lower gear adn the RPM's shot up, but it only does this if im driving with OD on, is this the tranny or OD computer? Yet, also with OD off if i drive completly normal and i get to ~45-50mph and let of the gas the car drops like a brick and sounds like the gear is MAXXED out and working way to hard. but the speed decreases normally, does any of that make sense? thanks in advanced and again sorry for being an ass guys, i appreciate all the help!

Yes this is what I am talking about they sell a replacement insert that goes in that as well as the passenger side^

This is what I am talking about:Motor Mount Inserts - Mitsubishi Eclipse 4G63 4G64 420A | eBay

As far as the issue with the Transmission I am not good a trouble shooting that kind of stuff. Sorry, I am also still a noob:)

is the insert needed LOL? and thank you so much for the help, ive decided overall i MIGHT use the money and fix all the various parts that are broke and make the car more trade valued?

Jake, I can't be certain without more info, but it seems as though you are experiencing tcu problems. Not necessarily the trans itself. A bad solenoid or broken spring in the valve body could cause the sudden downshift, however I would think that would be very unlikely. If you have someone with a TCU you could use for a test that would be helpful. Just take off your battery cable, unplug yours, plug in the borrowed one and give it a drive.

Just an idea to keep it on the cheap if you wanna try an keep your A/T.

But then, if your swapping it for a manual anyway, Don't bother. Just swap away.

thank you 96eclipse guy, but does anyone have a clue of what i was talking about 4-5 posts ago, about my gears sounding maxed out?
also clarification, the TCU is the gold box under my hvac system correct? because my heater core went out 8 months ago or so, and coolant leaked EVERYWHERE, and on ALOT of cables, and that box but never thought about it...
