OK I am trying to do a boost leak test. Once I pressurize I hear air escaping inside of the motor. I did set the crank to 30* (heck I tried it all the way around on the crank) and still hear is leaking. I was putting my ear up to the Oil filler hole on the valve cover. I also checked the exhaust but did not hear the air at the tip.

Any thoughts as to where the air might be coming from?

I'm pretty new here but have you tried soap and water, I read about a lot of people that do that in these forums.

A boost leak test checks for leaks in your intake tract. Common areas that are leaking after a boost leak test are throttle body seals, fuel injector seals, the egr valve, blow off valve, and the intake manifold itself. To check piston rings and cylinder wall condition a compression test is required. This will tell you how much pressure is generated in a cylinder from a single stroke of the piston. Also a cylinder leakdown test is helpful in determining cylinder condition. This tests the rate of individual cylinder air leakage. All cylinders leak they are designed to do so. There are limits to this leakage, but when accomplishing a boost leak test air will enter the cylinder of whatever intake valve is open and pressurize that cylinder and slowly leak past your piston rings and make hissing sounds in your engine. Within reason this is normal operation and not a concern.

Don't do this...

keep in mind that unless your at TDC with 1 cyl, the chances are the valves are open. So unless you varify the valves are closed hearing air come out of the engine isn't to crazy. I would suggest doing a leak down test or compression to make sure your rings, valves and head gasket are all happy as part of normal maintenance like checking oil. Especially if you or your buddy has the tools to do it.

the soapy water, you're suppose to spray on the ends of the coupers or where any two separate parts connect. that way when air leaks, it bubbles. do that for the boost leak test, but don't spay it in the engine.
