2G Boost Gauge/Controller question

Basically I hooked up a boost gauge and seen I was peaking at 8.9 hkPa on the stock BCS. I hooked up a TurboXS Boost Controller to try to raise this but no matter how far I opened it it was peaking lower. More like 8.5. Then I closed it the whole way and it went down to 6.6... now I reopened it and it won't go any higher than 6.9.

I thought it might be the boost controller so I rehooked it back up to the BCS and it is still reading almost the same as the turboXS unit. Slightly lower.

My car is basically a stock FWD 95 TSI with freemods done, blitz DCII and a turbo xs boost controller.

Any ideas why the boost would drop down to 6.9 hkPa?

Its probably your stock, plastic blow off valve. Before I put my 1g BOV in, I could barely hold 12 psi, I would try that out, should be next on your list.

how do you have the vacumn lines hooked up, cuz it wont work if its all backwards.

Yeah I thought it was the BOV as well not being able to hold.

I'm replacing the whole upper IC pipe with one already flanged with a 1G BOV soon.

As far as hooking it up I had the wastegate vaccum line going to I believe the bottom of it and the line going to the intake on the side. Perhaps its backwards, i'll switch them and find out if that does anything.

Any other ideas hit me up.

Just to update

I did some road tests

My vaccum is -7 to -4 at idle

My boost peaks around 6.8, 6.9 and 7.0 randomly

I switched the wires of the turbo xs unit just to see if they were backwards and it changed absolutely nothing. It ran exactly the same.

I rehooked them back to the stock BCS and it ran EXACTLY the same.

I figure hey what the hell and disconnected the vaccum lines and left them open hooked to nothing and ran it once and it ran EXACTLY the same as the other 2.

Does something seem wrong with this situation?

Anyon know what I can do to get the boost back up because obviously it's running the same boost with or without a controller.

FYI, I just had a new timing belt put in by Mitsu and one of my friend suggested that maybe it retarded the timing. Or maybe I got a vaccum leak? Could it be a wastegate issue?

One other question, whenever i'm full throttle it peaks the boost then starts dropping off. Is this normal also?

Just to make sure I have it hooked correctly:

On the intake pipe is 3 nipples for 3 vaccum hoes.

The upper 2, 1 goes to the valve cover and the other goes up towards the battery. The bottom nipple was the one that goes to the BCS right? The other wire coming from the wastegate.

So I took both those lines off and put the wastegate on the side and the 3rd nipple on the intake pipe on the bottom.

It don't seem like it's doing a thing tho..

Okay seems I found my problem. It was hooked up way wrong. checked the diagram out at turboxs.

I guess the only other question I have is what do you do with the 2nd hose from the bottom of the air intake that ran to the BCS?

Just cap it off?

helps if the boost gauge is hooked up right. And yeah, just cap the hole in the intake. And fill out your vehicle profile!
