2G 2g awd fuel tank wiring

Hello,

Hoping someone could shed some light on a 2g AWD fuel tank and wiring. The gas tank and car is a 95 AWD, where as the wiring harness I’m using is from a 97 AWD. Fuel pump wire connects no problem but when I go to plug in the drivers side connector it is an 8 pin vs the 6 pin.

Am I able to rewire this or is it easier to get a harness off a 97 AWD tank?

Is my only option to get a 97-99 sending unit/ harness for the tank to match the car harness?

I was able to get the sending unit harness from a 97-99 which fixed the connection to the sending unit however when I go to plug it in on the drivers side I’ve run into another issue.

Current connector in car is 4 pin but the wiring going to it was only 2 wire. The harness I got has 4 wire but wiring colors look different and I’m not sure which two the wires hanging out would get plugged in to.

Car is a 1995, I believe the tank is from a 95 but the guy I purchased it off had that and a 97 so I have an assortment of parts.

The harness is from a 97 I believe. Is there anyway to verify?

There might be a way to verify if Mitsubishi changed wire colors for any part of it. I've had mostly 95-96 models so I can look when I get home to see if I have a spare harness pigtail.

I believe the tank in my Galant is a 97+? It was a bare tank from Millers and finding the pump/siphon housing was kind of difficult for me. Im currently not home but I’ll double check what exactly I did later tonight:tomorrow. My setup work besides the Fuel level gauge because I have the wrong sensors

thanks everyone. Just trying to figure out this pump issue, it stumped me even more when i took off the connector and it only had two wires but the pump had a spot for 4 wires.

Do you have the 2G service manual, Volume 2 (Electrical)?
If not, I'd seriously suggest getting a copy. Easily searchable for right here.

These are from the 1996 FSM. Note that E-09, the rear wiring harness and fuel wiring harness combination, is 8-pin (2 rows of 4) for a FWD and 6-pin (2 rows of 3) for an AWD. I would assume this to be very similar to the 1995 model, other than the fuel pump relay.

Hey man quick question, for E-59, AWD only
Pin 3 you have labeled as Yellow/black. Isn't it yellow/blue? Just making sure i have it right so I can finish wiring my swap

Pin 3 of E-59 is yellow with black, Y-B, per the manual. Yellow with blue would be Y-L.

To be clear, pin 3 of E-39 (also pin 4 of E-09) is yellow with blue.
