im having meshing problems with my starter and the flywheel and im getting to the point of thinking about just replacing my flywheel. I have done a search on "remove/replace flywheel" only a couple things came up and not enough info. so if you have a link or can tell me how to do it that would be great. i would hope that i wouldnt have to take the tranny all the way out to do this if possible. starter is just barely knicking the corner of the flywheel. enough to barely turn the engine over with a nice grinding sound. the starter that is in there is new and secure , you can check out the flywheel on my other post about "starters universal gsx,fwd auto/manual" im sitting in Limbo right now trying to figure out what to do next . thanks again

upon reinstalling the tranny :) i put in an ipt high stall torque converter with new ring gear and while i had it out i went ahead and installed an translab shift kit. unfortunately when i went to start it it was doing the same grinding and barely touching the teeth of the ring gear anyhow\ i decided to take adavantage of my lifetime warranty on the starter and traded it for another one being that i stripped out the top starter bolt threads and this starter yet again looked different but had same number as other well i bolted it in and no grind so it was autozones rebuilt starter and a numbering error or something that was the culprit. so if you have this problem most likely the starter :) thanks again

i just bought a 95 eagle talon awd turbo the guy i bought it from did an engine swap from a 98 talon the motor in there is a 7 bolt, if i understood right from all of my searching i found i needed a 106 tooth ring gear he has a 110 tooth that was grinding til it finally wore down the ring gear

i now have it out and trying to find a ring gear and flex plate for it
i called a place to order a rebuilt torque converter with a new ring gear on it he said they only made a 106 tooth with 3 bolt to converter i have a 4 bolt to converter

i found a new auto flywheel or the car and was wondering if i could us that instead?

This is incorrect.. all dsms auto have 4 bolts that bolt the flex plate to the tq. I would go to a different company that has a clue.

no that is incorrect your self i seen the tc my self it was only 3 bolt and that is the 106 tooth i need, the 110 has the 4 bolt:shhh:

Im just using my personal experience..I could be wronge but ive owned a 95,96 and 98 eclipse autos... all had 4 bolts holding the flex plate. The only differance ive noticed is the awd tq is smaller. I have also never seen a dsm flexplate with only 3 holes.. care to supply a link so I can learn something new?
