2g/3g Brakes interchangable?

Hey all, I stubbled onto a 3g site tonight and found that they can use some of the brakes off of our 2g? I believe they use the gsx upgrade. I read that both the 3g eclipse and 8g galant share the same brake setup and that they can use evo brembo calipers and rotors. Is there some way to use the 3g onto ours and make some kind of 3g and evo inbread brake setup? Just wondering?

I dont' think so, I think the 3G has caliper brackets where the bolot holes are 6 1/4 " apart. I got the big brake upgrade from road race and they don't bolt up. They said then send me 2000 Eclipse calipers and brackets....so here I am awaiting the correct ones then have to send these back :sigh:

So if the brackets are the only difference, it stands to reason that you could run an evo/3G setup with a set of 2G brackets.

I can't follow all of that but I can tell you a BBK for a 2G and 3 are not the same with regard to brackets. The rear brakes are identical however.

In fact 3G and 4G fronts are the same and 2G,3G,4G rears are the same....

I asked roadrace for just the backets and they said it's a kit...so they are sending me the whole deal. I asked just for the brackets so I didn't have to pay for calipers shipping weight...

Not a bad deal at $160 a caliper and bracket...

So. Where does this leave us? We can use the evo brembo calipers on the 3g but for the 2g, we would either have to use 2g brackets or do we need to change out the backing plate? What does it leave for a GSX to use?

If you use 99 and up galant knuckle. You can bolt those calipers on. 100% fit.

Thats nice. I figured it was possible, but didn't know if anyone had done it. I would love those part numbers. Mostly, I"m scared of the pic of the evo 4 and up motor in that eclipse. I must know, who did it and how much does it cost?

My friend did it. It will cost $7000+ to do the swap.

I looked over some galant pics and found that the only steering knuckles that will work with 2g seem to come off of a 98-03 VR-4 galant. They use just about the same control arm setup as we do. All American spec ones don't have this setup.
