2G Outlander brakes

Here's some pics of said Early '95 rear brakes. As you can see, they're huge compared to regular rear brakes. They're even slightly larger than stock AWD front brakes.

So don't waste your time with heavy, expensive Brembo's for the rear. Just get some stock Early 95 rear brakes.

Holly crap those are huge. Ok well that's the new direction I wish I would have known the when I did this. Won't I need a new bracket for the rear also? Doesn't look like the stock ones will fit at all. Or can I use the brackets I just took off from the front. But I first look like the caliper will fit in those.

No, you would have to get the matching brackets and calipers for the rear. This is the best bang for the buck setup though, by far like red devil said. If the rotors are larger then the brackets would have to be bigger too

I wonder if you could use the gsx brackets from the stock fronts and put another set of dual pistons calipers on the back of those. To have dual pistons on all four corners would have so super stopping power. Does anyone have a picture of the 95 brackets so we can compare the front ones to it?

I doubt you could ever get the fronts to work on the rear. And dual piston calipers on the rear would screw up your braking bias.

To my knowledge, all that has to be changed is the bracket. My calipers take the same pad as all other GSX rear calipers, the rotor is just larger. So if you pulled the brackets from an Early 95 and got new rotors, I'm sure your current calipers would work just fine.

You wouldn't happen to have a part number by chance would you? This may be my weekend project assuming I can find some brackets.

For the brackets:
For '95 AWD models produced through October of '94, the rear brake caliper mounting brackets are MB857904. Thereafter, the bracket was MR129587.

For the rotor:

If Oreilly doesn't have them, go to Napa and tell them you have a 1994 TSi AWD with optional vented rear rotors. For some reason that's what they list them as.

I believe that the early 95 rear vented brakes are the same as the non-turbo stealth/3000gt rear brakes.

Thanks guys for giving me yet another thing to look for in the local pull-a-parts...

Some times I hate this site. My to do list gets longer and longer...

Oreilleys does NOT have them.
edit: Got em from napa. Full caliper/bracket semi loaded set for 150 after everything. Core charge is 80. Hope i can help someone else out.
The only other option is JNZ and they want 125 bucks for the brackets alone. An extra 25 for new brakes is a drop kick easy choice.

When you install the outlander calipers, there should be two brake lines coming off each one, right? Or is it just one? I ask because the RRE lines I ordered came with 8 lines.

According to the interweb, the 3/S rear rotors are about .6" smaller in diameter, and about .2" taller (laying flat). They're nearly identical in appearance, but you would probably end up with some pad hanging off the rotor.

Edit- The 91-93 3/S rear's are spot on for diameter, but still .2" taller. I'm not sure if that's enough to cause issues, but I don't see why they wouldn't work...

The calipers only have 1 hole. From what I understand, the 4 with banjo bolts/fittings connect to the caliper and run to the knuckle, and the other 4 replace the rubber line that runs from the knuckle to the stock hardline.

Is there a thread with the part numbers for the rears as well?

R you referring to the reaar OUTLANDER brake? No. They are the same as 2g discs anyway so its not an upgrade.

Read the above posts talking about rear el cheapo upgrade. Early 95 awd rears seem to be the winner.

Hey, out of curiosity, those early 95 rears are single pot as well?

Um no on the Outlander rears. I was referring to the 91-93 3ks/early 95 set up. I did read the post above, I just didn't know if there was a whole thread on doing it yet with the part numbers

Yes, its just different brackets and rotors.

MB857904 Wes listed it about 10 posts up. He also says how to ask for a 94 tsi awd vented rear rotor from Napa.
Does that re-answer the question?

So the answer to my question is - NO, there is not a thread dedicated to the rear upgrade with the part numbers in it like the Outlander front upgrade thread. I seen the part numbers here, I was inquiring about a dedicated thread more.
