Stop being an ass, PhilipMc. You already have a red chicklet, your location needs to be edited PROPERLY, and perhaps even consider listening to what some knowledgeable folks have to say.

You won't get another warning.

I have to rev up to 4k allready cause i have no low end torque. But i also misfire...

Tell me again how you so easily rev up to four for grand with an auto transmission??? And just out of curiosity if your in neutral revving up just to dump it into drive how is your transmission doing so far...

Yes I know I just checked my facts. The reason I wount order anything from dsm graveyard is because they are just regrinds of the original parts. Also I do know what a core is, a core is when you send in your cams or head or w/e product and they modify that for you. If you want to keep yours you pay a core fee. Also honestly your the first person who has not be a total dick on this website.

Well as a newbie to the dsm cars and the site, but I had respond to this because the whole core part made my laugh. First of all a Core is not something you send in and is modified and than sent back to you. Usually on parts like Alternators, Starters and other parts, you go into a parts store *same thing works for online orders*, you pick up the replacement part and install it. After replacing the part on your car, you take the old part back to the parts store to get the core charge back as long as your old part is still able to be re-built/remanufactured. If your old part is not able to be remanufactured or you dont have a core, than you are out the core charge plus whatever the part costs.

First thing first though... maintenance before modification, believe me now... thank me later. :thumb:

+1 to what was said earlier maintenance before modification. If you car is running like crap and you modify your car, it will still continue to run like crap. So I have to agree get your car running properly before modding. Since you have 98 420a eclipse like mine as well, when was the timing belt last done in your car? Plugs and Wires? Oil Change? Fuel Filter? Air Filter? just to name a few things... When you have to ask about whether or not to make the most power and still get fuel mileage you have to learn that more power = more gas in most cars *gm's current lsx engine has proven otherwise but that is a different story altogether*.

Cheers,
Charlie

To answer the original question, yes you'll decrease mpg. Around 6-10 would be my estimate, I'm probably wrong tho. But if your already having to rev to 4k to even accelerate from a dead stop, I would suggest looking into that before getting nice pretty cams. Also you do realize that bulletdsm(N/T wiseman) has one of the fastest ( if not the fastest ) times for a NA 420a ?if your looking for tremendous power from a NA 4 banger, well its just not there. As I'm sure you know, These aren't 6.0L V8s or LS series engines that you can get a crap ton of power from doing a "tid bit" of mods. The few members on here that push over 600whp, have spent more time than you can fathom tuning, building and rebuilding, repairing, and much more.

Proper maintenance is first and foremost with these engines. From the sound of things yours could use a little TLC before going hog wild on mods. As for the cams those will be a total top end cam and will hurt your fuel mileage a bit. However we are looking for a huge set of cams to fulfill our needs and these may be a consideration. Please stop being ignorant to those trying to help you as well. We are a community to work together to help one another not against each other.
