from what ive heard, it drives like my moms car used to, that thing would grab right off the floor, but it grabs fast and hard, so until you got used to it it would be hard to drive with

Got the 2600 in my 1G Talon, and I LOVE it. It felt stiff for about a day or two, but you get real used to it (my girlfriend still complains, but she can still drive it). I took it to the dealer for the T-Case recall, and the tech told me I need a new clutch. :rolleyes: Just be sure you get the street disk. You can slip it as much as you want, and when you take your foot off, it hooks up; period.

I looking to replace the clutch on my 1G TSI AWD. So far, the Centerforce Dual Friction clutch seems like the front runner because I use my car as a daily driver and I want lighter pedal pressure. It seems like the Act 2600lb clutch is way harder to press and in heavy traffic, my left leg would probably take tonnes of abuse. In addition to being a daily driver, I would put the car through hard launches on average, about once a week. The other thing to note is that I plan to slap a big 16G turbo on my car with FMIC and VPC as my next engine mods. All things considered, I do want the clutch to last a while, so clutch strength is indeed important.

Does anyone have any suggestions on which clutch is best suited for me? Are there other clutches I should take a look at in addition to the ones mentioned?

ACT 2600 or the ClutchMasters stage 3 or stage 4.
 
i have the 2100 and love it it is alot stiffer than stock but you will get used to it soon ive had it for three months now and going to the track in a week so i guess i will see how much better it really is last time i went to the track i learned why oem clutchs are no good haha

I have the ClutchMasters stage 4 (ceramic 4 puck with the SPRUNG hub). My kit has the 2500lb pressure plate. I love it. It does not slip, PERIOD. I had the stage 3 disc (segmented Kevlar), but it does not like abuse. I would have to slip it a little off the line to launch my car. The Kevlar "heat fades" like brakes do, when it gets hot, it slips. So I installed the stage 4 disc and have not had a problem. My AWD car has gone a 12.17 @ 115.40 mph, 1.80 60-ft. My car weighs 3400lbs without me in it (add 180lbs). It does require you to adjust your driving style a little. It wants to grab so well, I would stall my car during normal take-off from a stop, but now I'm used to it, so it drives just as well as my ACT 2100 did. I removed the ACT 2100 because it would slip once boost came on @ 18psi or more.
 
1-vicious-gsx you dont have the 2100 still d you.haha:laugh: figured id ask.i need a clutch.and has anybody heard anything about the exedy clutches.i heard over seas they've ot a real good name as far as holding power sent to them,but i havent heard anything over here.
 
how about 2600 for awd in winters with heavy snow. and I mean real heavy heavy snow........especially in a jam on a steep slope.

would that still be alright just cuz its awd?

would the tires be spinning all over the place from the snow?

Do they spin all over the place from the snow now? I'm assuming that you don't do hard launches in the snow? Once a clutch is "locked in, it's locked in" under normal driving conditions. You will have to adjust your driving style a little on a slippery lauch, but if your tires slip now, they will slip with the 2600 also..
 
well, they don't spin all over the place in the snow now, and no, I dun launch in the snow.

its just that.....I'm sure we all agree that the 2600 would grab alot harder and faster than the stock clutch, and slipping it would be quite abit more difficult than the stock unit.

I used to have the 2600 on my prelude, and the clutch would grab right off the floor. I don't mind the stiff clutch pedel feel. In fact, I loved it. However, i sold the prelude before I had a chance to drive it in the snow. But seeing how fast it grabs, I would imagine from a dead stop on a steep slope (where you would be giving it a little more gas than normal), and if there's tons of snow, the wheels would probably spin pretty easily.
 
I jsut bought a ACT 2600 presure plate, witht eh full face street disk. Now my question is about the release bearing. I was told to use the stock mitsu bearing not the ACT one. IS this true?

If you promise to let things cool down between launches, then youll be fine is CFDF.
 
Its because the OEM t/o bearings uses "plastic sleeve" and the non-oem ones uses metal sleeve=no good.

can somebody explain more for me =)
 
because the Act release bearing innersleeve is metel. the OEM one is plastic. I believe this is way

I don't know if you guys know this or not but the ACT 2100 6 puck disk combination actually holds 12 ft lbs more than the 2600 street disc combo. This is directly from ACT.

I personally will be going to a 2100 6 puck this year because I don't really care about silky smooth engagment as much as I care about putting undue stress on the thrust bearings.

Then again, my car now weighs 2650lbs, so I can probably get away with a stock disc 2100 combo if I really wanted to. :p
