Ive seen these 20g compressor kits sold on ebay by kansai sport for $200 and was wondering if they actually worked and if they were worth it. Comes with MHI 20g compressor side and wheel, says upgrade for 14b. Has anyone had experience with these kits? What all would be needed to do this conversion? Any input would be great, thanks!

No this would not work becuase the inlet on the 14b is smaller than that of the 16g. SBR does sell a 20g turbo in a td05h housing but its not just take one off and put other on. The measurements would have to be exact in order to use that kit you would also have to have the housing ported to match the increase in compressor blades. also the balance would be off and could cause problems for you later on so i wouldn't do it if I were you. Also the 14b is a 6cm exhaust housing and the one that comes on the SBR is a 7cm. Which should be ported as well.

Short answer: yes, if i'm looking at the kit properly, it will work. I've talked with gpopshop about it before, and as long as the housing has been milled out enough, you can fit the blade in there.

Long answer: Its not recommended. Two reasons for this, like gsxeclipse97 said, the exhaust housing is smaller, which means there will be a lot of restriction compared to a normal 20g housing. Secondly, the 20g wheel is made for a td06 housing, and according to what gpopshop and numerous local dsm gurus have told me, if you get any kind of substantial shaftplay, the turbo is toast. It'll beat the crap outta the compressor blades against the housing and be a paperwate. Thats second-hand info though, so dont necessarily hold me to it.

also note that if you do get this kit, be sure to have it professionally balanced :)

This really is just some ebayer trying to sell you something so that you can go tell all your buddies, "hey, I have a 20G!". . . When you really just have a slow spooling 14b w/ the ability not to heat soak your intercooler as fast. The stock 14b turbine just can't flow enough to merit such a heavy wheel w/ that stock 6 cm^2 housing.

Considering many guys have seen impressive increases by swapping to a 7 cm^2 turbine housing on their 14B, this kit would perform if you shop for a similar turbine housing when you purchase this kit. You would have a run of the mill td05h 20h w/ the inability to handle any sort of shaft play as mentioned.

I've seen great results from increasing the flow of my td05h hot side when running my 18G compressor wheel. I feel the same would be true for the evo3 16g. Nevertheless, getting gains w/ an 18g from increasing the turbine flow suggests that a td05h turbine wheel in even an 7cm^2 housing is not enough for a 20g. If all you're going to be able to flow is around 450 hp out of a td05h 7cm^2 turbine (that's all I've ever seen), then why add the weight of a larger turbine wheel such as a 20g? An 18g or *perhaps* even an evo3 16g can flow to this limit. A good 7cm^2 housing is probably going to really help you IF you decide to purchase such a kit. As restrictive as it may be for a 20g wheel, its far better than the 6 cm^2 housing on a stock 14b. Infact, I say get a BEP housing if your still want this kit. I've seen increases going to one of these from a 7cm^2 housing. A 20g wheel would really benefit from this.

Considering the costs of a decent turbine housing needed to get good flow and having this kit, you might as well get an evo3 16g and have the max potential of about 400hp right out of the box. Not to mention having a more reliable turbo compared to this kit.
