205/50/17s without drop

If I had 205/50 series tires on 17 inch rims, could I get away without dropping the car? As in would it fill up the large fender wells enough to not look goofy anymore? I would like to keep the car as driveable as possible, because I am putting a body kit on it this winter, and I don't want to be bulldozing the pavement with my front bumper. Plus I already have 205/50s in the back.

Your going with about the same overall diameter of tire but 1" larger rim so it will look a little better but the distance between the fender and the rubber will be close to that same with out dropping it.

I'm not sure how it will reduce the gap between the tire and fender by .5 of an inch because the overall diameter of a 205/55/16 (stock size) is 24.89" and the overall diameter of the 205/50/17 is 25.06" thats only .17" larger so in other words it will reduce that distance by .085 and will also raise the car by about .085. these are all average tire numbers, however if your meaning the rim to the fender you will be putting a larger rim on and it will be .5 closer to the fender. hope this makes more since.

Alright, thanks guys. I decided to go with 2 50 series on the front, as this would be the most economical and easiest option. Plus I can always slap on some springs if I want a drop later. Thanks again.
