So this guy locally quoted me $200 for doing the mod less oil and filter. Is this a good deal? I kind of dont wanna leave my car with a stranger for a weekend and I'd like to do it myself (for knowledge purposes) but dont really have the time.
So bottom line is, do you guys think its worth the deal?:thumb:

Last I looked on vfaq, it doesn't look like a easy mod, you have to know what your doing.
The kit from mitsu is around $40, so it's really not a bad price.
Based on what they charge per hour, he will probably loose some money.

Is he actually removing the front shaft and installing blockoff bearings?

Thats, what hes saying. All parts, gaskets needed. He said hes done it to all his friends cars, but I dont know his friends. I'm skeptical whether I want to get it done, I'm worried hell mess up something and I'll pay for it in the long run. Is removing the shafts a big improvement for the engine? i got 130k on it ( that I know of, dash could of been changed)

If he knows what he's doing than do it. But if i was to do it myself with the engine in the car i wouldn't do it. It's just too much of a pain in the ass. I did mine with the engine out of the car. And i did it because i was rebuilding the engine. If engine is running fine i would leave it alone, and just do it when you decide to rebuild it. If it's not broke, don't touch it.

Well it depends on what exactly he's going to be doing (labor wise)

Either way $200 isnt bad if he does everything correctly, since you have to take off the timing belt, front case, etc. etc...

$200 is what i would charge someone to replace the timing belt components and all the gaskets/seals but removing the shaft is a pain with the block still in the bay

If he removes the engine there will be less chance of him messing some thing up its not a hard job if you do it right i done mine . 200$ is a good price but i wold ask him if he was going to remove the the engine if not i do not thank i wold let him do the work

He is gonna drop the exhaust , remove Tcase if AWD , drop oil pain , remove timing belt, remove front case, removal balance shafts, new $12.00 front gasket for case, new oil pan gasket, install BSE kit , reinstall all for 160.00 at $35.00 an hour that is four hours (I can't do it that fast ). I would say he is one of the best in the industry. Unless he just wants to work for free :) and he is giving you the gaskets also.

There is no way he is pulling the engine for $200.

If you are that worried about it and don't know/trust his credentials, I say leave them in and wait until you rebuild the engine to have it done.
