I have a 97 Eclipse Gs-T thats been sitting in a garage for about 2 years only driven a few times. When you drive it and hit bumps in a road a normal car would shrug at, this car almost veers of to the side, its pretty scary. Whats wrong with it? And is there some kind of performance part I can get to fix it instead of replacing stock with stock? Thanks

Just take it to Discount Tire or such and get the tires balanced and aligned. That should fix your problem. :thumb:

If it is the ball joint, what do you think im looking at for cost?

I also wonder if its the tires, because they were all pretty much flat, and I filled them all up and started driving on them, could something be off while they were sitting flat for so long?

Is there anyway to tell by looking at them? If they are flat spotted, do I need new tires?

my 95 eclipse was haven similar problems like that, found out it was my upper and lower control arms, tie rods, and my hub bearing. thats about $1200 at a shop to fix.

if it's the lower balljoint, you're looking at spending $0 because there was a recall for that.

you're tires most likely have flat spots from sitting stationary for 2 years. the shocks and other suspension components may be bad also for the same reason.

I hope its the ball joint. Is there a ball joint for all 4 tires, I really dont know much about cars, if theres 4 of them does the recall cover all of them?

If you have flat spots in your tires you would feel it when you drive. It would vibrate really bad. My friends camry did the same thing that you are explaining and his was the rack and pinion. Just take it to a tire shop like someone else said and have them check it out. I work for Big O and we don't even charge people to diognose problems like yours.

It sounds like it's getting ready to either fall apart or blow up on you. If I were you I'd get rid of it fast...sell it to someone...like me...for $100...yep, that sounds about right! :thumb:

hmm 100 ay sounds like a plan (add a couple zeros and you got yourself a deal)

Could my springs be bad? If I get coil overs or lowering spings, might that remedy the problem?
