1g with a 2 Inch drop / And Camber Question

I have a 93 talon and just bought "Gold-Line" coil springs witch are a 2" drop, i want to just see what it is going to look like with a 2" drop. I also have KYB GR-2 sturts so i dont know if they make it lower or not, please help me out here!

2nd, WIll I need a camber kit for this drop?.. if soe are they any specifics i should look for, good names?... good quality??..

The GR-2's probably wont last as long as you want them to, but will be ok I guess. You will need a camber kit, but I dont think they make a rear one for the FWDs. I dont recall the names of any, but a simple search will solve that problem for you.
 
So Why do you say the GR-2's arn't any good?.. ahve you had them?...

what kind of drop do you have on your car?
 
GR-2's are a great replacement for not-lowered cars, or cars with very little lowering drop, maybe an inch or so, I used them for a while on my 1g with a 1.4" drop and I tell you they go fast... the shock absorsion becomes small and with very little travel, they're just not made for a lowered car, just save your money and get you agx adjustables wich last alot more and they feel good, or get you tokico's or something like that...but stay away from gr-2's with a 2" drop, unless you have enough money to buy some other shocks/struts in the next 6 months or less...

I currently have agx on the back and gr-2's on the front and the front just plain sucks cornnering its not like it used to be when i forst got them, of course I'll have my agx in the front soon to fix that.

but people seem to love tokico's better, so you may just go with that.

Ok, so they make tokico's for 1g's... i was just told that they don't and i searched for 3 days and didn't find anything. i don't know if they do or not, but i ended up ordering some agx adjustables. i don't have them installed yet because im waiting for my springs but...

any way back on topic, yeah you will need a camber kit for sure.. i ordered my front from coximports, they are really fast with shipping and cheap too... for the rear i'm not sure if they make fwd kits or not, but if they do you could always search ebay, i found this: link
But its for Awd and i don't know if they are the same or not. but you could email them too if you wanted.

Thanks for the help boys... wich i knew this two weeks ago i already bought all four KYB GR-2 struts!!.. oh well ill at least say ive tried them...

The 1G NT does not need a camber kit for a 2" drop. It won't need a camber kit for ANY ammount of drop since the front suspension has almost no camber change as the car gets lower and lower.

The rear suspension is a trailing beam type. The camber is fixed at -3/4 degree. It doesn't change with lowering.

1G AWD cars are a different story.

Is this also true for 1G turbo FWDs?

Yes.

Note: I edited my previous post to show that the 1G FWD rear end has 3/4 degree NEGATIVE camber. That's just about right for keeping the tires contact patch in the happy zone.
 
Thanks alot for the help, i apreciate it, ..

so i returned my KYB GR-2's and am now getting KYB AGX's, im not going to be doing alot of track driving, just daily street driving, which setting should i have it on??

does this also go for a 1g lowered by cutting the springs? because i did that and its been eating up my tires pretty quickly. :cry: or what do i need to fix that??

Lowering is lowering. It doesn't matter how you do it, the camber won't change.

To fix your tire wear issue, have the alignment checked. You either have too much/ too little toe, or something might be damaged and bent slightly.

He's right it's not camber but toe in or out , if the tires wear on the outside tread it's too much toe out, if it's the inside then thats too much toe in.I'm around cars with messed up alignments all the time at work and what you would think would be a camber issue ends up being a toe.But please don't let the metal belts from the radials protrude out before you decide to get new tires and alignment your mechanic will be greatful , those things hurt alot. :talon:
