Hey guys, so im going to be getting my exhaust done, and i was curious about the route of the piping...i went into the shop and they were saying they might have trouble with the pipe bending over the arm, from what it looks like though, a lot of you just have it simply go under instead of over. (The arm im talking about is the metal frame from the left rear tire) I think im just going to have them go under and run it as straight as possible.....is this the best choice? Thanks guys....

Ya I went under on mine... Mine is 3" and there was no way it was going the old exhaust route.... LOL..... I also had trouble at first taking the old exhaust out, so we just finally cut it in the end which made it a lot easier. What kind of exhaust you going to get... I recommend the one I have LOL........ Tanabe Super racing medallion... sounds unreal, VERY deep tone when revving down though, not that I mind ...

If I remember correctly isnt that exhaust really loud?

Ya it is pretty damn loud. I tried the silencer for about 10 seconds when I first installed the exhaust just to see how it sounds....It doesnt sound bad with it... but without is def. the way to go... But its a good loud (deep), I like the tone of it a lot. I want to borrow a friends video camera so I can put up a clip, but im sure it wont be anytime soon, you never know though. :)

I just plan on having a local shop do it, 150 total for 2.5" piping installed and muffler and o2 bunge put in might add 25, not bad right? I have a generic jdm muffler that i bought awhile back, im gonna put it on and see how it sounds (i had one on my sunfire and loved it, very unique sound...deep and throaty :) )

Thats sounds not bad.... As long as it works fine, And the Exhaust tip looks good from the back, some just look wrong! That is a good price! Way better than what I paid for mine..... but what can I say... Im a brand name Whore as a girl called me the other day, LOL....

Just a word of warning. Some like a loud car, some are driven crazy by it. I like listening to my stereo, not my exhaust. If you do much cruising, the drone might drive you crazy. The muffler, cat, and resonators all knock down the loudness. If you're not installing resonators or a cat and you have a straight-through muffler, your car might be intolerable. My 3" turboback has two resonators, a custom twin-tip, straight-through Magnaflow, and no cat, and it still has a pretty loud drone from 2500-3000rpm. It sounds awesome when you get on it, but it's annoying when you're just tooling around town or cruising on the interstate/highway. I can live with it for now, but a high-flow cat is probably in the cards some day.

Is your exhaust going to be stainless, aluminized steel, or something else? Aluminized steel won't last too long up in Michigan, but stainless might increase the price (materials are more expensive). Many exhaust shops won't weld stainless, but it'll outlast your bodywork :p

Mack, first let me say you have about the nicest looking exhaust I have seen around here. Good job. The drone you talk about must be common to this engine because with a totally different exhaust system that is exactly the RPM range where I hear the "drone". One notable difference is I have an RRE high flow cat. I hear the drone but I don't find it annoying, I kind of like it. I can hear the sound system when cruising at all speeds and the exhaust sounds great when I get on it. Maybe it's the cat. Many high performance exhaust systems all over the years have used a cat and a high flow muffler to remain EPA legal, noise legal and still sound mean. I might want to install a 'test pipe' to hear the difference but I predict I will probably soon go back to the cat considering what you and others have said and the obvious benefits a cat provides.

Thanks for the props. I'll probably get a cat someday, but I can currently spend that money on other mods.:D I've heard many folks' claims about the cat helping quite a bit with loudness, so I'm pretty sure this will bring it down to where it doesn't bother me at all. I'm not driven mad by it currently, but it's still annoying, so I don't think I need too much more anti-loudness.

I run a cat and it makes a pretty big difference in noise. My cat+glass pack seems quieter than some exhausts with proper mufflers on them.

I got a megan dp like many others on here. It elminates the cat and bolts right up to the cat back exhaust... You can get 'em cheap on ebay if they are still up there.. not sure.. ~ $100 i think, cant really remember.. Its a 2.5" dp turning into a 3" bolting up, rest of my exahust it 3".
