2.5" or 3" exhaust?

Which would be best? I'm thinking about a borla muffler though deep and not high pitch honda sound.

well since your car is Turbo'd ide go with a 3" back , i suggest going with a john shephard catback system, since its designed as stock dimensions, also u can make your own piping by using ur old pipes as a diagram, and for your muffler borla is decent, if your not lookin to spend alot, get a Magnaflow , i had one on my old 91 tsi and it actually made it sound pretty good

search yahoo for DSM Exhuast Sound Clips, if your not gonna be doing track only, just get the magnaflow like i said, its a pretty good exhuast, real cheap, u can pick one up at most local autopart stores, sounds kinda ricey to say autozone or pepboys, but the magnaflow has proven to be a good exhuast for a dsm

well what im suggesting is for the cost magnaflow is a pretty good exhuast, dont be worried about the sound, worry about what kinda exhuast flow your going to get with some apc muffler that some people think sounds "hot", thing i learned is


"Performance > Sound"

keep that in mind, if you want performance and sound, go with a complete catback like a buschur system, or some place that specializes in dsm exhuast systems.

I found out that the clips I was listening were from older models I checked out magnaflows site and they have a lot of nicer ones. Which would you guys go with?

Well on the site it has soundclips for exhaust systems. I'm not sure which muffler they are using. I want something real deep and ballsy.

Single or double tipped muffler, what sounds better?

I am also interested on this subject.....but the main question i have is there a sound difference between the 2 1/2" and the 3"? If so, what is it? I'm looking into geting a thermal r&d 3" fyi...

alright, if ur going for sound more then performance, then you really shouldnt be in a dsm, im not being an ahole, but you should look for an exhuast for its quality and flow, but if it were up to me, 3" single tip, and "custom blinkers yo", jp

Well word yo, I never said I was going for how it sounds instead of quality now did I? I just don't want it to sound like a honda high pitched ricey sounding piece of crap.

i just finished making my own 3",and its badass.kinda annoying loud,but i can feel the power difference,and i did take off the cat.i say go with 3 now so you dont possibly have to upgrade later.it does get honda buzzy sounding at wot,but all exhaust will do that without resonators,which i also dont have.

tigglebitties, just go ahead and buy any of the magnaflow mufflers, as long as u got the power pushing out, then you wont have that "ricey honda sound", u kno why hondas and some other cars make that "ricey" sound cause they put out as much exhuast pressure/power as if i would fart into a muffler...
