has anyone came up with a design for this yet? i heard there is a two piece design but i would love to see some pics and maybe even get some specs...trust

Yeah, so do I!!!!

I will like to see how the nightmare of the 2.4L Swap looks like.

I want to have and idea of how it looks like.

P.D
Does anyone wonder that, when you do the swap the engine will be saying 2.0L on the head cover and it is a bad ass 2.4L engine? (Sleeper looks eh?). That is sweet.:D

Thanks in advance
Tito.

... I wanna know some info about that too... please help out guys

If you plan on building the block yourself or want to go the economic route....

Start by buying a Cheap 2.4 block on ebay (as low as 10 bucks...shiping will be like 160, comes from minivans/JA body cars), make sure the crank/block are in workable state...now send to machine shop after you take balance shafts out....have em check for the need to overbore ...once you see if you do need overbore, order your pistons and rods.....

And yes you use the 2.0 head so it should look stock :) to the untrained eye

The 4g64 motor for my swap is from Howell Automotive. Its a 2.7 :D

Hey thats NOT a 4G64, (its most likely a Stratus block). Notice also the title says its for a 95-99 1st gen Neons ; which would still work for a nt eclipes/ talon, but it also states it comes with 11:1 compression. Which means its main intention is for all motor neons.

So unless you plan on running some heavy duty stand alone and serious dyno time, youre better off with an engine with lower cr. or stay all motor and use it.
I have a Stratus block, but the cr is much lower for boost, which makes it easier to tune.

I was also told it was a 4g64 block. Not to long ago you could get the motor with 8:1, 10.5:1 or 12.5:1 compression ratios but since that motor isn't a big seller I guess they reduced their options. I'm pretty sure I could get whatever compression ratio I want since they build the motor in house after I order it.

If I was told wrong and its not a 4g64 and is a stratus block what all is different? Since you have the stratus block will the 420a head still bolt on and will I only have to change one motor mount like before? Will my 420a wiring harness still work? Is yours bored out any and what setup are you running turbo wise?, that is if you don't mind me asking. TIA ~ Tait

I'm pretty sure Gary and his workers would not tell anyone with an nt to get a 4G64, unless you didnt specify over the phone whether you had a 4G63 or a 420a. Nonetheless, a 4G64 would not work with an nt. Its a Galant engine; well at least the 6 bolt ones. Good engine swap for the turbo guys. a 2.4 Stratus or PT cruiser block will fit onto a 420a head, and the wirign has nothing to do with it so yes it'll work. Boring depends on how old your block is ,as stated before. running a T3 turbo setup in mine.

Thanks alot Initial DSM for catching that and clearing that up for me. Everything is still like I thought. I had just been told the wrong engine code by someone , I stated I had an NT. Good people none the less.~ Tait

Hey guys,
Did u know that rebuilding and assembling the engine is not problem the only @#$%ing problem is doing the swap with the @$$ %ole custom Mount.
Almost everything else is easy it is doing some adjustment mentioned in the beginning of the treat.
I Wish that those people that have “”done”” and “”almost did finish”” the swap, help another 420A people about the custom mount and maybe another tricks.
You guys should make custom made mounts or THE FAMOUS KIT!!!! For sale. (I beat people will buy it $$$$)
Also somebody should make the whole deal of swap a 2.4L block on the eclipse important and posted in: TECH ARTICLES! Or putting it in the sub-forums of non-turbo performance.
This idea got to be a revolution for the 420A people. It is no our fault that we did not have (or have) enough money to buy the car and pay for high insurer’s rate.

Well I leave this in your hands! You guys decide. What is going to happen with the whole deal. :thumb: OR :thumbdown

P.D: I have never done the swap, but I am willing to have a Bad ass 2.4L N/T Eclipse!!!!!

i requested that tech article about a month ago. i haven't seen a write up yet though. probably due to the really low # of actual participants. we should set up a seperate forum like the "n/t to turbo conversion" thread, spark some more interest. maybe?? ...trust

Well let's do a poll to see how many people agree and we will take action after that!!!

You can start if i didn't started the new thread!

2.4L Swap ""WE"" will get u!!!!!
