ok, friend is selling his 2.4l shortblock, came out of a 99 SPYDER ECLIPSE. dont know if it a 6 or 7 bolt, but i need a motor for my AWD, the 2.0 is gone, crank and block, so i have a good 2.0 head, can i maybe enter change the parts, but dont know how that would work, a 2.4 block with a 2.0 head, help????

Its a 7bolt. The head will work. You will need to plug some holes on the block though. I am going to recommend you search for this. It is covered in a lot of threads.

exactly... thats what the spyder guys do who are N/A, stick the 2.0 head on plugging up the holes which i THINK are related with coolant:confused: not sure on that one.

Yes it will work but search for the iformation on the 2.4 conversion you need to get several parts to make it work and your going to have to send it to a machine shop to plug some holes. I am going to go get my 2.4 block next week.

You dont need a machine shop to plug the holes in the deck. They are just coolant passage holes and can be plugged with freeze plugs. The only trick to it is to make sure they are pushed in enough so they dont stick out above the deck. :thumb:

Actually the more important question is whether or not you are wanting to put the 4g64 into your 90 GSX.

well it an ideal that came up,, because i am in need of a motor, turbo and exhaust system... just looking at my fastest way to get it running,

Youre "fastest" way to get it running would probably be a good running JDM engine with if your lucky a 16g on it:thumb:

You will have a different bellhousing on the 2G 7-bolt block than your 6-bolt 1990 transmission, it is just an extra mounting point that the 1G doesn't have. As well, I would suggest a 6-bolt or 7-bolt engine from a 1G DSM as they will have the correct bellhousing tabs, and will be easier to install in your application. As well, the 2G 7-bolt 4G64 2.4L block will accept a 1G or 2G cylinder head with no modifications. You will need to use the 2.4L cam gears (or adjustable cam gears) since the timing will be off otherwise.

Since you have a 90, I would suggest looking for a 1990-1992 6-bolt engine. 2.0 4G63 or 2.4L 4G64.

Again, your best bet would be a parts yard, or 6-bolt 2.0L 4G63 JDM engine.
