:( ok i have a 2.4 stroker in my 2g today i left the car on at the pump then my oil light started coming on so i checked and it was very low i put in 2 and a half quarts and its still on flickering only at idle though when i give it gas it fades out and away, could this be the sensor or the oil pump its self?

pleaase help me

oh and ps the stock oil pressur guage seems to be reading normal, goes up durring excelleration and down at idle

If you were that low on oil, and it's now flickering at idle, you probably have excessive clearances in all your bearings now, from the rapid wear. It's likely not a bad sender or connnection, becuase oil pressure goes up with RPM, even with a heavily worn oil pump, or chewed up bearings -- it's reading just how one would expect if you starved an engine of oil.

Unfortunately, it likely means you'll be rebuilding / replacing that engine.

what would have to be replaced in it?
and the oil light did not come on until i was pumping the gas so it wasnt on for a long period of time

well im gonna have my friend check it out tonite he said it doesnt sound like im gonna spin a bearing but that i most likely have a loose connection because the oil light is flickering only at idle and i have a fully built motor so my idle is very rough wish me luck man

sorry about that and thank good its just the sensor, if i step on the brakes had it goes out and it flickers witht the vibration of the car good thing it did start to act up cause i was a lil low on oil

hey thanks, it was a bad ground on the sensor its fine now, and for the guy who gave me a heart attack about the bearings thanks for making me have to take 5 valiums LOL , all is well, even got my brake light to go out today, im gonna go for 10's hopefully

Replace the idiot light sender, and re-crimp the connector.

Do not bump your threads.

You scare me. If you drive being 2.5 qts low on oil I would think 10's wouldn't be something you should be shooting for. You need to fix your oil leaks. If you don't have any then you definitely need to find out where it's going.

BTW. Being only 1 qt low in a car that pulls 10's could allow the oil pick up to start to pull air and their by start doing some major bearing damage.
