Instead of using the Driveshaft shop front/rear axles, you should contact Marty Cook at Raxles, Inc. Raxles - Raxles Home .

I am using his Race axles (rated for 1000hp) which were substantially cheaper than DSS ones. It is in your best interests, as it may save you several hundred dollars; they also come with a lifetime warranty, covering racing applications as well. You break them, he replaces them -- thats it.

As for the butcher crank, I haven't had any major problems with it in my car. I have refreshed the motor this year, and it did show that the crank was jump-roping under high boost (35-49psi) and was wearing out the main bearings, but that was after 2 full race seasons, and 30K+ miles. If you are looking at the butcher crank, I would talk to Darren and see if it is the best approach. Otherwise, the Eagle crank is a nice piece to go with.

Raxles i had forgotten all about those. thanks for the reminder!:thumb:
i dont know where the butcher crank came into conversation, but i'm using a 4g64 crank that one of the wisemen on here has for me. ;) what would you recommend (ie. replace front and rears?) anything else to into as to replace making the 500-600whp power.

thanks for the replies and input greatly appreciated!

I know if i had to do it all over again(getting parts) i would have just purchased a full long block from buschur racing or another great dsm shop.

personally, just pony up the money for the fronts currently- then get a set of slicks.

Your drivetrain will like you alot more on slicks.

I still have stock rear end, rear axles, driveshaft, and transfer case. I have broken 7 sets of front axles over the years; mainly from not having a good suspension, and not having solid motor mounts. -- I only had the stupid prothane ones. Now, I have solid front/rear mounts instead of the 2-piece inserts.

which mounts did you end up going with?

i'm running currently eibach sportline/koni red suspension for time being. haven't actually had a chance to drive it and see how i like that setup down the road will eventually go witha full coilover i'm sure. but who knows.

front axles works for me. thanks. and slicks for the track are the plan. and possibly some mickeys for the street
