Hey guys. i figured ill just try to get some ideas here. I have a 2.3 and the torque/acceleration is phenonminal on just 8lbs on a 50 trim and thats what im looking for in the car..but looking to upgrade to a hx35.i have to do the seals soon and figured i mine as well get some cams. Not sure what cams would have the characteristics for what im looking for. I dont plan on really taking the car past 7k (my tuner will decide whats safe or not). Im interested in the Kelfords 280s, but ive heard they ran like 272s on 2.3? Just want some opinions..Everything else is pretty much upgraded, besides head work and intake manifold. Ultimate goal is to have 500whp... Considering tune with E-85 fuel map. Car made 310whp/310tq at 8-9lbs with a "start up" 25 min tune due to bad wide band sensor and exhaust leaks, so didn't go higher then stock. Hopefully some good info will come in.

Personally I am a huge fan of GSC for their cams. I have seen many people on the forums as well as other people on different platforms turn to GSC for high numbers. The S2 cam would be all you would need and I think they can re grind your stock cams. I am digging the numbers I am looking to shoot for the same amount soon after I get use to a 16g for a little bit. There is also BC280s and FP2's would be another 2 sets of cams I would recommend. Btw nice numbers for only 8 lbs on a light tune.

GSC s1's are regrinds of factory NEW cams unless im mistaken. I know they have a service where you can send your cams in to be reground to the s1's or s2's unless its changed recently.

And most likely its more expensive due to the fact that it outperforms a lot of the other cams. Not saying all of them but its up there.

This is not true, GSC cams are not regrinds of our stocks nor do they provide a service to do that for us. They are camshafts made from billet cores:

On that note, this is the same department that I am in. I have read up a lot on what cams to use for a 2.3, and right now it seems the best choice for my "budget" would be regrinds of the HKS 272 offered by FFWD, with adjustable cam gears. I agree with the info above, that the best option would be GSC s2 cams for this set up. They are significantly more expensive since they are not regrinds and are new billet core cams:

FP directly made the FP3x cams for the stroker setup so they get my vote but like said about valve train parts are also needed like just a kiggley spring and retainer kit. I will be running the 4R's in my car but it will be a 2.0. You always have to pay to play good luck man.

Btw, my trans is auto. So im sure the numbers would be significantly higher for with a manual more like 356.5 if the power loss is 15% percent as i heard at 8psi. I digress. I surely didnt expect this much info, very grateful! Im surprised no one has mentioned the kelfords, since it seems lately that everyone swears by them or at least the posts ive seen to be one of the most aggressive cams out there.
