I am looking for information on this stroker crank for a 2.2 stroker build in an automatic FWD? I'd like to hear from others that have ran this crank and what kind of internals they ran with it? I would like to build this stroker to withstand 800hp but realistically 600hp+. I say that because I don't want my motor maxed out, I want room to grow. I also am going to run 9:1 compression and want to run cams of course but not sure which direction to go.

I don't want to discuss any other parts of the build besides the stroker. I just want input from people that have experience with the 2.2 stroker.

Any input is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!!!

The guys at English Racing have been toying with using the 4G63 block, 94mm crank, custom R&R 153mm rods, and custom Wiseco pistons to create a sort of "short long rod" 2.2L. Obviously the longer rod helps with a higher RPM range due to the better rod ratio. They have currently only built this motor on an Evo and it had amazing results. They are currently building the exact same motor for my 1G AWD automatic in a 6-bolt 4G63 version. Pretty excited for it.

Here is the build they did on the Evo:
2.2L Forward Facing 3794 - evolutionm.net
Daniel's 821whp SLR2.2 4G63 3794 TS - evolutionm.net

If you weren't concerned with the rod ratio and wanted to stay a little cheaper, you could build a 2.2L using a 4G63, 94mm crank, standard 150mm rods, and use the off-the-shelf pistons CP offers for 94mm cranks and 150mm rods. The standard rod 2.2L still has a better rod ratio than a long rod 2.4L and has a good amount additional displacement and has a WAY better ratio than a 2.3L. I rev my automatic up between 9000-9500, so I decided on the longer 153mm rod 2.2L. Spending a lot more but I think it'll be worth it in the end.

My brand new Wiseco HD2 pistons for the 153mm rod 2.2L. Brand new style forging from Wiseco.

Rod ratio has more effects than just cylinder wall loading on an engine. Cylinder filling with how fast the piston moves away from the cylinder head is also important. All HD2 pistons are custom made orders until there shelf stock is built. With that being said we can make pistons for the 2.2L stroker(which has a damn near identical to a 2.0L rod ratio). The 2.0L rod ratio is an ideal rod ratio for the 4 valve heads we run.

Manley makes rods as long as 162mm. You are spending alot of money on your set up and if it were me, I would go with the 4g64 block and 162mm rods. You are obviously looking to spin the motor way up or you would be using the 100mm crank, and long rods make a significant difference in both piston dwell time and decreased piston side loading due to reduces angularity. The taller block would not put the wrist pins to far into the oil rings. The larger bore also unshrouds the valves and allows them to move more volume as the cylinder walls aren't as close to the valves. Plus you get a little more displacement.

Get the rod ratio between 1.7-1.75 and you will make a high revving powerful engine.

Thanks so much for all the information!!! Keep it coming.

Well, after some extensive research and tips from others, I have decided to go with the Manley Billet 94mm Crank, instead of the Eagle 94mm crank. It seems the Manley may just be an overall smarter choice.
