To pass the winter months I decided to do a destroked 6 bolt 2.4L. What options, for rods, are there when doing a LR 2.1? I am leaning strongly toward the 162mm rods.

From what I have found so far the options are not allot.

R&R rods out of Grant park IL. They make magnus rods so you know theres quality. And i do no know of anyone stocking long rods.

Thanks for the R&R company, I did not know about them. Funny thing I received a PM about some R&R rods.

This build does not seem to be a popular thing. Like you mentioned there are very few, if any, venders that have LRs on the shelf.

Manley has a 162mm Turbo Tuff I-Beam Long Rod.
Manley Performance - Sport Compact - Mitsubishi - 4G63 / 4G64
Whether or not it's on the shelf is another thing.
The catalog is for a 7-bolt crank, but I know SBR can get these.

R&R is another good choice.
I know you can get just about any Aluminum Rods made to your spec.

English Racing has dabbled in the Long Rod 2.4L, might give them a call.

Pauter will cut you a set of 162mm rods for $860.

I'm building a LR2.0L with the 88mm Manley Crank, 156mm Pauter Rods, and OTS Manley LR2.0L Pistons.

If you can stomach the extra cost, IMO getting a set of custom length aluminum rods would be the best option for a high strung engine like the 2.1L destroker. If I were building it without regard to cost, I'd keep the assemby as light as possible, maybe use a set of Mahle pistons with some aluminum rods, a butcher crank and a lightweight flywheel. Have it all precision balanced to 11k and then start worrying and losing sleep over selecting the right valvetrain pieces...

All the places I looked when I wanted to do that build was 6-8 weeks to get them done. just an FYI

Oh ya, the valvetrain will be something to think about when that time comes. :)

I am going to go with steel rods on this one as I have never delt with aluminum rods. Wiseco stroker pistons, I've had good luck with them so far on the couple of motors I have done.
