I would like to know if anyone here has ever put the 1st gen prothane mounts in a 2nd gen. I am just curious to know about the rollstops ( front and rear mount ) They seem to be pretty close in dimensions and the 1st gen might just need a little triming. I have tried using the search bar about this with no luck. I figured I will do a little write up about this within a few weeks if it hasn't been done yet. Any feedback or info will be greatly appreciate it. thanks

The point of "roll-stops" is to stop the roll aka slop. The bolt hole is key to be a tight fit, not just a line up. So in theory, yes those could fit inside your 2g tranny torque mounts. Be stiffer than the stock ones yes. The diameter looks to be bigger in one of those prothane mounts compared to the stock mount. Take many pics sir.

I am sure this could be a cheaper alternative.

Post back with some results, i also wondered this becuase i have a 1g rear poly mount in my junk pile and i thought this would work but haven't tried yet. I took the engine side mount from a 1g and used it in a 2g so im thinking this also would work so keep us updated man.=) good luck man

Ok guys I have done it new post coming up

Well guys I managed to fit 1gen motor mounts in a 2g real nicely. I will also let you know that if I had a press it would have been alot easier, the way I did it was the cheapest way to do it. By that I mean I bought 2 of the front motor mounts for the 1gen prothanes its a solid piece and its alot cheaper than buying the one for the rear I paid 15bucks shipping included at summit racing part number 13-505 Search Results for PTP-13-505 - SummitRacing.com

First obviously what I did first was removed the rubber from both of the motor mounts if you have torch great, if you don't get a pan or a empty paint can soak the motor mount in gasoline and set it on fire the rubber will burn off some and it will be alot easier to remove. Do this at your own risk you can always take it to a machine shop and they will remove it for you for a fee.

Second the ring inside the motor mounts should be kept for the rear motor mount do not remove it from the rear mount!!!. Now the front you can keep it if you want you will just have to trim the poly mount on the sides a bit, its up to you, I decided to take the ring off the front motor mount so the poly mount can slip in good remember I don't have a press I got both these mount in with a C clamp.

Third I was able to press in the first mount in nicel on the front mount it went in nicely , it still took some force to get it in but I used some oil to help me out, makes it alot easier when using a c clamp. the front mount is pretty much straight forward, use a hammer if you need it too, the rear one took a little extra step because I have to trim some off the sides all the way around I used my little black and decker dremel with a sanding wheel attach to it. I just trim a few off and one of the edges too just because I knew it would be real hard when pressing it in with a c-clamp you will see what I mean when you look at the pics.

Fourth the stock bolts were obviously too small to use now that I have the poly mounts in so theres two things you can do. 1 you can drill out bigger holes in the brakets that the motor mount go attached to from the transmission, go to lowes and get bigger bolts or 2 get some 3/8 thick rubber hose that you can get at advance, autozone, etc. I had some laying around so I figured I would try it. Use some oil when your putting the hose in the center of the mount and cut to the correct length flush with the mount. the factory bolts will now fit real snug.

Finally when putting the motor mounts back into the car I decided to used a jack to raise and lower the motor/tranny so the holes were aligned I made sure that the motor mounts are not bolted down all the way, make sure they have some play, bolt them down once you get both motor mounts bolted to the brackets.

Then go for a drive have fun!!!:thumb:

I just stumbled on this thread. It is awesome to see that someone finally did this! I have been trying to find full poly mounts for awhile and have always wondered if the 1g ones fit. I just ordered these from Summit now, thanks for the good work.

## welcome, I still got them in my eclipse and if you don't want the motor to move its a great
Mod. I have all poly mounts in mine, I am thinking of just keeping the rollstops only and tossing
The side mounts or drill holes into them. To me it's seems that the side poly mounts increased
The vibration big time as opposed to just the rollstops. I still drive mine daily.
