1st gear pops out

Mine does it in reverse. If you keep the rpm's up when backing it does it less. Also does it less when the tranny is hot. The scary part is occasionally it'll pop out of reverse followed by a loud clunk :sosad: figure I'll just nurse it till i get rid of the car.......

Could be shift fork, bearing failure, etc. Activate trans from engine side, engage 1st gear. If it still pops out, pull tranny and rebuild it. If you keep driving it like this it'll wear your dogteeth out then say hello to a new gearset instead of a cheap rebuild. Trust me, I've done it twice and kept it up till every gear except 5th popped out. Always an expensive rebuild that way.

Syncros do not cause gears to pop out.

Most likely it is a 1-2 shift for like stated already.

As for the guy with the reverse issues look into the switch for your reverse lamps, there is a "crush washer" under it that sometimes just gets too thin and needs replaced. Reverse doesn't have a shift for ;)

Mine popped out of first and I drove it till it broke gears and cracked the bottom of the case on the freeway :ohdamn: It would only pop out when I went to take off. If I put it into 1st as I came to a stop and left it there holding the clutch down. It wouldn't pop out. Eventually I had to start out a little in 2nd and once the car was rolling I could get it into 1st and it would stay. Once it started popping out, it only lasted about 2 months before destruction ROFL I would suggest saving up now for a rebuild if you don't have the money all ready.:thumb:

I'll check that ty

It's nice to know that alot of other people have had the same problem as me. LOL

Mine had trouble going into first and if and when it did go in it would sometimes pop out. Even if I held it in. When it kicks out and your holding the shifter look out! It can be painfull.

I ended up having my buddy rebuild my trans with parts from Jack's and the dealership. My first gear assembly and 1-2 hub and slider were messed up. I replaced these and upgraded to a double synchro 2nd gear. Now it's nice. Wasn't cheap though. With parts and labor I spent about $1200
