does anyone else with an a/t have little power in 1st unless you really get on it?

cuz i don't. until i hit 2nd. then im spooled, and pulling REAL hard.

i don't know if this is just a wierd dsm a/t thing, or if i have a problem.

if so, is there any way i can pull more power out of my 1st gear? break boosting i know will do it. but i mean even just for daily driving.

Do you actually have the shiter in first with the OD off?
I usually drive without OD in traffic....other times I throw thru the gears just for the hell of it.. no problem getting power in any gear...

just have the car in D with OD off.

i don't like manual shifting the gears too much. i just got the car about 2 months ago, and it's been to cold to really get in and take a look at everything. so i don't want to beat on the tranny yet, until i know it's ok.

the power isn't bad. at all. it just seems sluggish at times. but that could also be my lifters setting off the knock sensor, then setting timing back through the ecu.

it's a dsm. . . who knows what it could be. or maybe i just havn't had enough exp. with an auto car with a turbo yet.

ill try manual sifting it so see if that bodes a bit better. i don't don't know how good that would be for a daily driver to use all the time.

The stock torque converter is junk. A restalled or smaller diameter billet torque converter will drastically improve the performance of these transmissions. But if you start from part throttle, the trans will leave in second gear, but it should kick down the minute you floor it.
