look i havent seen or heard this before but can this work. i have a friend that has a set of 1gen aftermarket cams will they fit in a 2 gen head. :hmm:

yep. but installing stock 1g cams into a 2g head is pointless. 1g and 2g cams have exact same lift. only stock cam that works as a upgrade is the 1st gen non turbo 4g63 intake cam. that intake cam stock has a tiny bit more lift than the turbo intake cam. i dont think the differance in lift could even be felt in terms of power tho

I'm going to have to disagree with 1g and 2g cams the same. There are different molds for the 1g cams. The "C" and "D" combo have a higher lift. It's not much though. But you are correct that it is pointless.

Also the OP was for 1g aftermarket cams in a 2g.

Yes, they will work. He's talking about aftermarket cams so comparing the lift of 1gvs2g cams are irrelevant for this case.

Depending on the brand of the cams you wont be able to use your 97 CAS unless you tap/drill your intake cam.

But all the cams fit the same yes.

sweet guys thanks, is there any post on how to modify the cam to match the cas

I have never done it myself. The 2g Cam angle sensor BOLTS onto the intake camshaft. I would assume you would have to drill out the 1g cam and Tap the hole to fit a 8mm x 1.25bolt. That would allow the 2g Cam angle sensor to bolt right up to the 1g camshaft. However I'm not sure if that NOTCH would affect bolting up the 2g Cam sensor or not.

You are correct. Just need to drill and tap the intake came. I never noticed any ill effect in dealing with the notch.

+1
I installed HKS 264/272 combo from a 1g in to my 2g - no problem you just need to drill and tap the end of the intake cam to accept the cas.
